Ormiston Gorge Campground reviews
16Nice place to get relaxed from heat of the day, white sand beach, big water hole, good for swimming.
Get in early if you want a level block. Amazing facilities. Select your site then go to the shop and pay. Some great walks located here.
We didn't camp here but wish we did. Has showers too. Best swimming hole in the ranges to swim In
A beautiful place. Our only complaint was the smell coming from the septic. It was so bad that one lot of campers moved to a site further away. Facilities are basic with 2 toilets (including a disabled) and 1 shower. No rubbish collection but a complicated recycling system with several bins all for different things. The staff were very friendly. The campground is fine for a central base while exploring the Western MacDonnell's and is a lot more affordable than the alternative at Glen Helen.
What a gem of a place. Not only is it accessible, reasonably priced but the amenities are good (including hot showers). The whole area is stunning and with the kiosk and camping site, it is a perfect getaway.
Absolutely wonderful camping area with hot shower and flushable water and power in discreet locations. Peaceful and serene surrounds, walks to nice viewpoints and swimming.one of the better places along the Larapinta, especially thanks to the nice friendly Cafe with Iced Coffee, toasted focacias, some souvenirs including aboriginal art. All very tastefully done.
Amazing one of the best places we have been. Food excellent coffee great surrounded by happy people wonderful views. Would love to go again. 10/10
Didn't stay at the camp ground but you must see this beautiful Gorge and amazing area. Beautiful swimming hole, Pound walk was breathtaking.
This is such an excellent campground with the most lovely gorge nearby. The campground has one shower (only campground with a shower in this region, I think!) it is $10 per night per adult. The spaces are very spacious, we arrived in the morning with our caravan but after our hike 4 hours later it became very busy! Would recommend staying here, kiosk is nearby also and sealed roads all the way in.

Ormiston Gorge is probably the prettiest of the gorges in the West Macs. It has camping facilities and a well stocked kiosk. At my last visit on the w/end it was being run by aboriginal staff, and they were doing a great job, it was good to see!
Great place to visit and enjoy the great experience of the area, plenty of information and views.
Did the pound walk absolutely brilliant
Kiok staff and food very good as well
Highly recommend just a beautiful place
Walked there and some people swam there. Nice in the sun in middle of May. Wind blew cold. Cold in shade.
Brilliant top walk.
Be prepared for a wadng experience if you come down from the longer top walk into the bottom of the gorge.
The swim in the larger pool was bewt!
Ormiston Pound Loop is well worth the effort. Excellent views, diverse flora and gentle slopes. Our 8yr old loved the walk. Close to the end of the loop it is necessary to cross/swim a 10m section in chest deep cold water.
We had an amazing experience here. We arrived late and they allowed us into the kiosk to check in. The next morning they also helped us out of a sticky situation! The Amenities were very clean and overall great experience, they were such kind and funny people. We will be back! (Also FYI, no petrol station at Glen Helen)
