Ooraminna Station Homestead reviews
50Fantastic service - we brought our 2 year old with us, and the staff went out of their way to make sure she was accommodated and comfy. She had a comfy camp bed in our room, specially made dinner and loved all the attention! The rooms were comfy and airconditioned, the food delicious and the pool is AMAZING. Exploring the surrounds found us some cattle and wild (ish) horses, and there is a donkey, some goats and a baby cow (as well as the beautiful family dog, Coco) for pats and photo opportunities. Would recommend to stay anytime of year.
We had a perfect afternoon at Ooraminna for the graze and swim. The food was amazing and the pool was great. Staff were also very friendly. We can’t wait to come back!
We do have one suggestion to make it an even better experience. It would be great to see some umbrellas/shade down at the pool area. We would have stayed longer but we’re getting burnt in the sun. Hopefully this is something which will be added:)
Stayed in the log cabin and it was amazing. Everything about this place is a dream. Nicola was lovely and made sure everything was perfect. Drinks by the pool and dinner under the stars was a highlight. Definitely have something to eat when you’re there, the food is fantastic. Can not recommend enough!
When we arrived at the Homestead, it looked to be grim. No one was around and we had to let ourselves in. We then came to learn that workers had quit that day and the only person left to work was the Chef, Didi.
The man, the myth and the certified legend - Didi. He did it all. Took care of us, welcomed us with open arms and made the best food ever. Thank god for Didi. It was an honour and a privilege to meet, chat and eat with him. Didi made this entire experience one to remember.
Give this man a raise!
Beautiful place for a meal and the food was delicious.those cabins are so cute, I can't wait to book a night or two. I'll be back soon.
Epitome of Central Australian hospitality. Loved my birthday here! The food was amazing, drink were cold, rooms were stunning, and the nee pool an absolute treat!
DIDI the chef, the man, the legend, the musician, the international man, the reader, the creator, the painter, the DJ man, is an absolute legend.
Give him a pay raise STAT.
Genuinely a 5-Star experience. This is a paradise. Absolute heaven.
Please disregard the negative reviews here regarding the food. The homestead has a new chef and my GOD the food is incredible. I was honestly blown away and loved every bit we had.
Amazing! Although we stayed here just 1 day, we enjoyed this calm and relaxing place, excelent food and very kind owners VERY MUCH. Thank you! Also its conveniently located just about 20km from the Alice Springs airport.
The farm is lovely but lacks care and organisation. Two days before arrival they called to inform us that there was no chef. We had booked two dinners. The microwave promised wasn’t there but a burner. We used our own to cook. The fridge was very dirty, unusable likewise the minimal kitchen objects provided.
The main reception area was dirty filled with a mix of old and dusty furniture plastic tables old TV, etc.the staff was careless did not even greet us when went to have phone connection but kept staring at their computers. At the lookout where we went for the sunset one of the two chairs was destroyed and left there. All in all it looked like a place with great potential but poor organisation also considering the significant price per night.
Absolutely loved my stay here. The glamping tent was cosy & everyone who works there was lovely and helpful & created a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Stayed here the accommodation was wonderful. Dinner and breakfast were unbelievably good. Staff so welcoming, wish I could have stayed longer.
The 30-minute drive from Alice Springs is worth it. The place is serene and the view is just relaxing. You need to have 4wd to go there though. 2wd is alright but that will add up 20mins of your driving time.
We absolutely loved our time here. Such a beautiful parcel of land. The walk to the billabong was gorgeous watching loads of tiny birds sipping on the water. The view up the top which is also a lovely walk is sensational, you can see right out to the MacDonnell Rangers and sunset was stunning. We caravaned in the old film set snd couldn’t believe we had the place to ourself for 5 days. Kids didn’t want to leave. The paid full breakfast was a treat, very generous serving and delicious. We had the fish barramundi for lunch one day which was also delish. Don’t come here with huge expectations, it’s unfinished in parts but still it was an unforgettable outback experience for our family. A big thank you to the lovely staff too
We visited Ooraminna Station for Sunday lunch with friends
Venue was very picturesque and we were able to catch some quaint images.
Service was friendly and food delicious
Thank you keep up the good work
Disappointing. Not worth the trek or the money we were charged. We booked ahead and rang ahead on the day but when we arrived here staff looked shocked as they weren’t expecting us and didn’t have our booking.
When it came time to order we were told that a couple of the items on the menu like the steak and chicken weren’t available.
We ordered 3 cottage pies (see photo) and 2 salmon dishes. When the dishes came out we noticed that the cottage pies were slop on a plate instead of the pies we expected. Plus the dishes were all meant to have potatoes in them but they weren’t on the plate. The salads had no dressing on them so we had to ask for some olive oil and vinegar. The salad wasn’t washed and had dirt in them.
To add insult to injury after we ordered and ate we noticed that the table next to us got steak. We were told there was no steak available.
For the money we paid ($45 per plate) we expected a bit better. We won’t be back.
Great location, loved the film set camp area! The restaurant and bar area is very nice, as well as the pool. Will definitely return with our tours
Don’t pay employees properly/make it extremely difficult to get hard earned $ from the company…do not recommend attending or working at this place.
We've loved staying in a cabin for a weekend away out of Alice Springs here.
Now that the new bitumen road extends almost all the way out to the turn off it is also quicker but part.of.thw fun is cruising the dirt sections out there. Ring ahead to check the condition of the entrance track.
We've been on exploring walks down to the ebillabong and found ourselves totally stunned by the sheer number of wild budgies drinking and flying around while sat up on a nearby rocky spurr outcrop to enjoy the show.
There are also camp sites and the vintage replica movie-set Western township to explore complete with an outdoor function dance floor and western cowboy bar there.
This facility can be hired for parties or functions.
We love the privacy of the log cabins though and get up early to go for a run, often seeing the hot air balloon launch back near Jessie Gap then visit the horses. We have made several visits to unwind at Ooraminna Station and found the owners and staff excellent operators very helpful and welcoming for guests.
What a let down. Beautiful scenery, however the food and service are below average. We booked a table for 6 but when we arrived they didn't have our booking. Our food took well over an hour to start coming out. It took a further 20minutes for all of us to have our food. 3 people had finnished their meal by the time mine came out. My steak was cold and had lots of gristle, gravy was cold and watery and potatoes were way over cooked. Very poor for $45. On the plus I got to feed it to the cute dog there!
