Tours are excellent, cafe menu is good, reasonably priced. The day we went they were hosting passengers from The Ghan and had set it up nicely. We were just having takeaways and the only thing to be made was coffee. There were exactly 3 of us. The Barnstaple girl was chit chatting. After a while when we checked she said there is lot of orders. My husband decided to wait as her tone was rude. After waiting for more than 20 min I checked. She was just finishing and gave me the same response. I told her that we are the third customer and there haven't been that many. She put the coffee on the counter and said to me, "do you want it? " I said of course I do and that's why ordered. What a way to serve a customer. I wanted to bring it to the attention of her manager. She quickly went into hiding. I asked around for the manager and told him about the bad service. He offered to give us a complimentary drink and I said the only thing I want is to give her proper training in customer service and if she doesn't pick it up, fire her. She is not for the job. This is the first time I have ever been served my order with the question do you want it.

Very helpful and friendly staff. Guide was well versed in the area and traditions. The trip went up the river to a rock bar where we had to walk a few hundred yards to the next boat. Path was paved and had a few steps. You can see some rock paintings along this walking section. The next boat takes you up the gorge further, through very remarkable and beautiful gorges. There is wheel chair access at the beginning of the trip, but not at the rock bar. $100 will get you up 2 boat trips (2 gorges). Cold water available on the boats (free)

Cafe was disappointing. No menu, so the cashier had to explain everything to every single customer when they got to the counter. It took ages for the menu to be explained, dietary questions answered, people to decide what they want, order and pay x 10 people in the queue. Beautiful view though!

The visitor centre is also the reception for the campground, staff are very friendly and helpful. You can also book the tours to Katherine Gorge from there. The 2 hr tour to Katherine gorge is good but a bit pricey considering there's 50 people in the group and other groups there, it gets really busy. Unfortunately, no other option to explore the gorges until all salties have been relocated.
There's a few options of snacks from the café

Wanted to stay in the campground in our modest 6 metre Camper as we had booked a Sunrise cruise but found the charges ridiculously exorbitant and refused on principle to pay $ 46 for an unpowered site! Easily the highest rates we’ve seen at a National Park traveling around Australia the last 14 months! Nothing special about this camp site either - full of bats and crowded. The desk for information on hikes wasn’t manned with the Tours desk saying they will be back. Observed two Rangers both having a break at the same time outside with long queues forming at the desk waiting for them on a weekend with plenty of tourists about! No literature or maps to help ourselves either so we had to wait for them to return! Poor impression for visitors. Building design poor with queues forming just at the two entrance and exit doors to access the two help desks with priority of space seemingly given to the café and eating areas. Poor signage on the walks as to where you are at periodic intervals compared to the impressive information on the history, flora and fauna of the place posted on other signs.

A very lovely site & building.
Had a bad experience with dried up pastry & coffee was bitter.
Did really enjoy our walks/swims & felt most privileged to be able to share in the land I was born to. Thank you

I hate to complain, but I had an incredibly terrible experience with the staff at the visitors centre. My first day in Katherine my partner and I thought we had seen that the Southern Rockhole ferry was still operating. Online it said that it was closed and you couldn't purchase tickets, so I tried calling several times and emailing and had no response (this was after we had been and gone from the visitors centre after another tour so we did not want to drive back 30minutes if it wasn't running). The next morning I tried ringing again and again, and finally I got an email response at 9: 10am saying "yes they are running at 9am and 11am" and that we just needed to come in to book. Already missing the 9am one, I asked if we could reserve 2 seats, and asked what time would be the best time to arrive. I got no reply, so we drove 30mins there, arriving at 10: 48 and they said we were too late, and that boarding started at 10: 45 and there was nothing they could do. I explained that I'd been ringing the last 2 days, no answer and no one in the email had explained that I needed to be here 15mins prior. I knew were the dock was so I asked to run down and they said no. They told me they had the phones turned off lately because they had too many calls, and they didn't know who had emailed me. I booked tickets for the 9am ferry the following day and the girls reminded me to be 15mins early. We arrived at 8: 30am. One of these same girls then didn't board anyone onto the boat until 9: 10am. The lack of information & help from staff here really needs work. Of the little time that I had to enjoy and explore Katherine & Nitmiluk, this wasted a lot of time for me and my partner.

Did the short loop walk, level 3, so take snacks & water. There are many steps, rocks & gravel, so have good footwear. Great views of the gorge & surrounding area. Worth a visit.

Lovely introduction to the area, with helpful advice and maps for the nearby trails, a Cafe, a quiet and shady picnic area, and clean public toilets.

The visitor center is pretty good but the canoe ride is a big joke. We paid $144 for a double canoe and so 2 people. The real canoe trip lasted less than 2 hours while going slowly (about 6 km) and we waited 1 hour without doing anything, it is very disappointing. We are used to doing this kind of activity and the price is not right at all.

Visit the park but do not book the so-called canoe trip.

Currently under construction and the nice roof top cafe you hear about is closed. Staff is friendly but are currently working in a container. Information is limited to tracks in this area but I assume once the new info is open you can learn more about it.
