Nirvana Restaurant reviews
59I think Nirvana has become my favourite restaurant in Darwin. Delicious food. Always great staff and a warm atmosphere to boot. Thanks for another nice evening!
Had a wonderful night. Great food, friendly and attentive staff and lovely atmosphere. Will most definitely dine there again as there are so many dishes on the menu I am yet to try. Best Beef Massaman curry I've had in a long time.
Despite being served next table dishes by mistake, all got corrected quickly and we all enjoyed delicious food: tasty and not particularly hot. The meat was very tender. Will come back!
Got really bad food poisoning.both people have been vomiting and running a temperature never going there again
Food and cocktails are both amazing! Service is always prompt and friendly. Nirvana is somewhere we constantly recommend to friends and family!
Waited over an hr for mains but Nirvana was busy and we were a group of 12.food was well worth the wait 10 out of 10 for the food
Absolutely amazing food.some of the best I've had anywhere! Very good service from extremely friendly staff.
10/10
Friday night 26 May 2023, decided to order takeaway for a quit birthday dinner on the balcony. Ordered from Nirvana, sounded ok, curry puffs, Saigon spring rolls, Penang chicken, Thai fried fish, chicken n prawn Nasi goreng and roti. Picked up order an hour later as requested and paid $115.
Got home, decided to finish our drinks before dining, so not so long after we went to dish up. First of all we were astonished at the size of everything, it looked like $30 cheap takeaway from uncle sams, because t the quality wasn’t even that good. The tiny 3 pieces of fish not even worthy as a single serve. The 4 roti were actually 1 small thin roti cut into 4 pieces. The curry was mediocre and the nasi goreng the only dish worthy of digesting. How ripped off do I feel, yay happy birthday to me, I will never return here and will never recommend it to anyone ever. Save your money!
Nice atmosphere, but when ordering a yellow curry with salmon, one shouldn't expect a plain old fish curry with fatty white fish, or when ordering a Pinot noir one shouldn't expect a Shiraz or something or other, but alas that's what one gets, all at the same price!
$115 purchased -
Spring rolls $15 for 6
Curry puffs $14 for 2
Chicken and prawn Nadi goreng $19
Penang curry chicken $27
Thai Fried fish $30
Roti $5 for 4 pieces
Dined in for years spent a lot of money birthdays and celebrations dine in. First experience Take away and decide will NEVER EVER RETURN TO NIRVANA!
Disgusted! Would have brought more and better quality at Uncle Sams across the road.
Average flavours and bad portion sized. If I could give a - 5 I would rate a - 10
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!
1 piece of Roti cut into 4 for $1.25 per triangle.
The fish pictured cost $30
Go to Mc Donald’s and I promise even on their WORST DAY I can Guarantee you VALUE for money!
Love the service and their drinks. Friendly staff treat every ethnicity the same way. Good on you folks, you know your market
Its a three and a half star review from me.
Flavour of the curry was really good but the pork tasted like it was leftover from another dish and tossed in, not cooked in the gravy which was a real shame. Staff were friendly, two stars for the staff and one and a half for the food. Had takeaway, if I got this in the restaurant I would have been gutted.
One of the waitresses was unbelievably kind she felt like my best buddy:) she made my year tbh! $620 well spent on my Son's banquet bday.
Welcomed to the restaurant by a lovely lady that was more than welcoming to a new place. Drinks were great and served very quickly. Food also upto a very good standard. Everyone serving had a smile on their faces and tried to make every request possible. Great meal Thankyou
This place is filled with character! Great food as well. Staff were really nice. We were told the building predates cyclone tracy (which is very impressive) and it shows. Cool live music venue!
Very impressed. Nice live music, very chilled atmosphere and the best Irish Coffee cocktail I have ever tasted. Even If you visit just for that cocktail it is worth it.
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful with selections.
After having friends tell us about how great this place was we were sorely let down. Although all the staff were very friendly, the service was slow and we were left for long enough while waiting for our mains that we felt forgotten about even though the place wasn't even half full. No checking in for more drinks - just sitting there with empty plates and glasses for about half an hour.
The food itself was really disappointing, really bland and tasteless. Hands down the worst food we've had whilst living in Darwin for the past year, better stick to the weekend markets for delicious Asian meals and save your money.
In addition to all this this soundtrack of YMCA and other 80s classics really lowered what otherwise would have been a beautiful vibe and intimate setting.
All together a total let down and unfortunately we will not be returning.
The attached Smoke and Oak bar has some good live music and good atmosphere. Better to stick there and avoid the dining experience.
Rain (I’m sorry if I spelt this wrong!) served us and she was so incredible. I am a bartender myself and was so so impressed with her.
All the staff were absolutely lovely and helpful however she was our main server so I’m passing on my praise.
P. S.food is delicious!
Thank you!
At a loose end.looking for somewhere to have a bite to eat and can across this little gem.
I like Asian style food and curries.so was happy. Tandoori chicken was ok.not the best I've ever had.the Jungle Curry was awesome.almost too much. Called off with a couple of beers from the local One Mile Brewery.a good find.
The service and speed that the food came out with was also excellent.
This restaurant has super kind, friendly and helpful staff. The interior was a lovely surprise and there are several sections with a different metaphor. Ours gave us plenty of privacy and opportunity to chat and share plates. We were hanging out for greens and fresh veggies and our meals had plenty of those. We ordered a Pinot Grigio from Venezia which proved pleasant drinking. Definitely a place to visit whilst in Darwin.
