Nawurlandja Lookout reviews
22A short walk from the car park and not too steep of a walk to get to the lookout. You don't go the whole way to the top of the hill rather stop where the signs says the lookout is about 1/3rd of the way up. Excellent views of the surrounding area. Week worth a stop.
National Park guide, grandpa, was exceptionally good. Brought history to life and gave honest understanding of how tough the life of koori people was in the early times.
Stunning lookout and not too long of a walk up to it. It’s steep and I recommend proper shoes for the walk as you’re mainly walking up the rock face and theirs a few stairs. The path isn’t paved or gravelled.
Nawurlandja Lookout is an easy to get to lookout with pretty good views all around.
It's about 1km walk to the top and a third of it is is walking uphill a lot but it's easy enough to do for someone with reasonable fitness.
There was noone else around when we went in the middle of the day.
You could do this in half an hour if you're very quick but you should allow more time than that.
This is an amazing place and one of the few places open during the wet season. It certainly won't disappoint. The walk to the lookout is only 300 metres, and although it is a steep and it will not take much time at all. Only disappointment is there were no toilets at this destination.
Had the place to ourselves for most of the sunset and a much better outlook than ubirr. This was our favorite sunset of the trip
One of the best spots in kakadu imo. A terrific place for sunset viewing. Abit of climb up the rocks but the view is worth it.
Absolutely beautiful lookout and worth climbing to if you are able. The first 30m are flat, then there are about 10 steps, followed by a steep but hikable rock face. This definitely requires some effort but if you are mobile this should be fine. Approx 300m total and the views are incredible. We went twice, once in the morning when it was getting hot and once in the evening leading to sunset. Both were enjoyable, please note that the view is of the east, so if you are looking to watch the sunset directly this is not the place; the sun sets behind the rock face you are on and you cannot get to the other side. However, if you are happy to watch the landscape be bathed in different light as the sun goes down behind you I highly recommend it.
Difficulty: Moderate. Not accessible by wheelchair at all, will require significant assistance if using a mobility aid such as a walking stick in order to get to the top.
Magical, magical, MAGICAL! Such a beautiful walk to to in the late afternoon. If you have the time, take a picnic and watch the sunset from the rocky escarpment overlooking Nourlangie Rock.
The wildlife is abundant, and some rock art scattered throughout the landscape! I’d recommend taking some water though as the walk is pretty exposed to the sun.
This is a very short walk to the lookout and such a unique one! If you are not too keen to walk all the way up at the sign where it states it’s a lookout just look back while you are walking up, as half way up you will still see those stunning views of the surrounds. It’s a great place to view the sunset.

Un-bloody-believable. Well worth the little hike! Very easy, only 15 minutes to get up top and heaps to explore. Magnificent view
A steady ~300m inclined walk up to lookout point from. Best time is just before sunset to watch the disappear over the flat plains, billabong rocky escarpment and cliffs in the horizon! Peaceful and relaxing.
Easy climb to the lookout but you must turn around every 20 steps on the gently sloping plateau. The scenery changes that much.
Big walk for oldies we are 75 and 81 years old took us 80 min up and down talk lots of water we had stops and drinks
Wonderful landscape! Take water with you!
Walk with the ranger is very interesting! I eat a Kakadu plum and ants, it was very funny
This place is amazing. You need to bring, small bag pack for your camera, bottled water, small towel and food if you get hungry. Great place to enjoy the view.
The view was spectacular & worth the climb! I don't think many visitors realised that the rock act was there.
What an amazing spot to stand upon and look over some beautiful areas of Kakadu. The climb is definately only recommended for those with sure footing.
We were there at sunset which was great. The lookout is magnificent, we recon one of the best of kakadu. No view of the actual sunset.
