Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory reviews
21 Must go to when you visit Darwin.
Great for a visit to locals too.nice cafe as well.
This was surprisingly amazing! I’m not of a museum person, and with rainy weather and not a lot else to do in Darwin we figured we would check it out. Beautiful indigenous artwork! The cafe is pretty basic but it’s nice that they have it there as an option
Very interesting to read and listen about Cyclone Tracey. And to listen to the actual noise of the Cyclone wind. Also to see the many other artefacts on display.
Astonishing jaw-dropping maritime section and brilliant on natural history; we loved it. Some great audiovisual pieces too, like an aboriginal person talking about his cultural knowledge in the local language, and a room in which to experience cyclone noise. Every section was a delight. Loved it.
Incredible. Place not to be missed. I am not one who " loves history" but was really interesting.
Excellent small museum and art gallery.
Museum well presented and informative.
Art gallery the best feature.
Also very nice cafe.
Well worth a visit.
Come and learn about Cyclone Tracey and see some local art both new and ancient. All for free entry.
Entrance is free. World class exhibits and displays. View Sweetheart the crocodile and find a tribute to Cyclone Tracy.
Moscow country Cam security person looking private apartment unit inside family have private something security keep looking in to room apartment be carefully security do not good job.
Very well done displays with interesting informations. Different topics, like aboriginal art, animals, cyclone story of Darwin, as well as history of the northern territory and different boats. There are nice and clean toilets upstairs as well as downstairs. There is a gift shop too and an information shelter. Everything is for free which makes it an absolute must see in Darwin! Great!
Went to museum today, found it interesting. Cyclone Tracy was good also history on Darwin, took our daughter who was born in Darwin, gave us all in insite into Darwin's story. Cafe was open.
Great experience. Friendly staff. The exhibits about Cyclone Tracy, the different species of animals (as well as Sweetheart, the crocodile), and the history through time were very interesting.

At the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory their are a collection of over 1.2 million natural history specimens and over 30,000 items of art and material culture.
Always an interesting exhibition on. Today the Telstra Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards.
I've always enjoyed coming here, especially with visitors and we certainly had a good time this time as well.
The art gallery contained many outstanding displays all of which were well explained and visually pleasing. The museum had very interesting exhibits on the animals of the area and of the effects on Darwin of cyclone Tracey. Definitely recommend it.
Much improved. Friendlier. Great for locals and tourists. Kid friendly. Cafe could be more catered to kids though.
Superb pieces of artwork that has been beautifully curated. Wonderful examples of Indigenous art and truly worth a visit.
Spent a pleasant afternoon exploring the eclectic, entertaining collection and will be back for more. Personal highlights were the natural history and Cyclone Debbie exhibitions.
We spent a really interesting morning in this Museum but still didn't manage to quite see it all. Very moving to get an appreciation of what the people experienced from the European takeover. There is more art upstairs but we ran out of time.
