Mount Conner Lookout reviews
40I've never experienced such quiet in all my life. There wasn't even the sound of a plane flying over. No signs of human life ANYWHERE. It felt unreal.
Pro tip; cross the road and walk up the sandy path for a view of a salt flat lake you wouldn't see from the road, plus a better view of mount Connor aka God's toothbrush
Stopped off for a look traveling from Uluru to Kings Canyon. Do yourself a favour and go up the sand dune across the road to see the sale lake out the back and the footprints of many small mammals.
Fantastic spot, but definitely more for the un-signposted salt lake on the _other_ side of the road (mentioned in a lot of the other reviews too) - make sure to walk up to the dune, and then it's a short walk down to the lake itself, where you can walk right out into it and taste the salt.
If only I could give theis place 0 star's. The people who 'own' the land on the station have stripped the Anangu people of their culture, identity and belonging by fencing off Atilla (Mt Connor) and only allowing one tour company to go there therefore, destroying thousands of years of history and culture of the Anangu people's sacred site, Atilla. The shop inside perpetuates these racist notions by having racist imagery on the walls as you enter of the Anangu people's beliefs, practices and culture. Why would you put a fence around a sacred site and only let one tour company visit? What else are they trying to hide.
A place to get a good view of Mt Connor. Make sure to climb the sand dune to get the best views and look on the other side for the salt lake. The hiway can get busy so watch for traffic when crossing it. It's a great introduction to the red center and worth the stop.
Just a lookout, a carpark and a shade shelter.
Great views of Mt Conner or ‘Fooluru’, as some people think it’s Uluru. One guy who was flying his drone here actually thought it was.
It’s worth a quick 2 minute stop to stretch your legs, take a photo and admire the amazing rock which rises from nothing.
Free when you stop to have a look at Mt Connor take your photos turnaround and walk across the road and walk up the hill and you will see the Lake. So pleased another tourist told us as there are no signs.
Great view of Fooluru. Make sure you go to the lookout on the other side of the road. Very much worth it.
Cross the road from the lookout parking area and go up the sand dune, the view from the top will surprise you!
It is a beautiful sight when you see this don't forget it's not Uluru you see. When you see this you can imagine how big Uluru really is. Plenty of parking with van etc. Great place to have lunch is what we did. Also go across the road and see the salt lake a very short walk
Mount Conner is really as amazing as Uluru, there's a reason the locals call it fooluru!
It's on privately run property, so this is probably as close as most people will get to it. So enjoy the view!
Really nice view amazing and beautiful was great and would leave 5 stars if not so many people tourists came and wrecked the serenity by talking and shouting a lot but still great 4 stars
Well worth looking at. We pulled over at the lookout area. We were also lucky enough to have someone tell us that across the road from the lookout there is a salt lake. Well worth stopping for.
Good view of Mt Conner, clean shaded table, clean toilets. Only problem are the usual flies can be overwhelming
Great view of Mount Conner. A must do is to walk across the road, climb the sand dune for an even better view and also you will find a view looking over the salt lakes
I was waiting for an Air-Wolf to rise (or at least a UAP). It's was definitely something special. Highly recommend a visit!
Apparently a lot of people mistake Mt Conner with Ayers Rock! It was a very nice spot for a photo and a toilet stop
I had not heard about Mt Conner so it was a great surprise. You have a clear view of this amazing mountain and behind you (behind the dune) is a huge dried out lake bed.
At least this time I didn't think it was Uluru Great to stop here for a cuppa and climb the sand dune opposite the lookout stop. There's a massive salt lake over the dune
