Manton Dam Recreation Area reviews
13Nice view of the dam. Nothing too exciting here. Good place to stop if you've had a long drive. The toilet building is massive.
We were looking for a scenic park-up but the car park’s not it! Great if you want a leg stretch. Had some miniscule phone bars for which we were grateful at the time.
Not a bad spot to come out to see the dam (only the lake though, you can't see the wall from here), and there are plenty of places to have a picnic in the shade, but it is not very well grassed and really is primarily a water sport location. It's definately good for that though.
Would be much better if NT Rangers would monitor the speedboat and jetskiers to ensure they stay in the designated areas, and don't hog the limited shore access with their shade pagodas
Very quiet and peaceful here. Follow the rules on the Billboards with specifics on boating, swimming or fishing. Please refrain from doing anything silly here. Original water supply for Darwin since 1939.
Beautiful and tranquil location when we were there. It was a week day. May get busy on weekends.
If you love water sports, head to Manton Dam.
It's often a hive of activity on weekends, where locals head to for thrills on jet skis, water skis and wakeboards.
You should not swim in Manton Dam.
Manton Dam is a good fishing spot, especially for saratoga and barramundi.
The area is important to several Aboriginal groups including the Larrakia, Limilngan, Wulna, Warray and Koongurrukun people
Beautiful nature, amazing view, specially the dam, found couples of people enjoying jet ski, however be aware of crocs sign was there.
Great experience! Bring a snorkel coz there is a school of small to medium size fish in the waterfall pool
Very basic picnic ground does have toilet, water& rubbish bins. The area is mainly used for fishing & jet ski.
Diverted off the main highway to have a look (not too far off the main drag,) and was not disappointed. These out if the way places need lots of maintenance and it is obviously popular with the Darwin boating fraternity.
Would have benefitted from better signage and access to the water, because other than the boardwalk to the toilets and the boat ramp there was not much of a chance to enjoy the serenity of the dam.
Worth the diversion just for a quick look, or a kayak trip if you have one on the roof racks.
A good spot for a picnic, or fishing (if you have a boat), not much in the way of bank fishing though.
Visited here on the way to elsewhere - its really for watersports, bird watching and bushwalking. Boat ramp present and accounted for. Sudpect is quite popular with the locals.
