Katherine Museum reviews
32 It was good! Especially for a $10 entry fee.
It definitely has a lot of history from around Katherine. I don't think there is a better way to display anything, but for us it was suuuuuuper wordy. Lots and lots of reading and my partner is a slow reader so it took us a while. Like I said, there is probably no better way to convey the information, but little kids may struggled to stay engaged in parts.
Awesome display of old machinery and the old shed with the blacksmiths shop, mechanics shop and peanut information was probably our favourite
Great museum so much information and signage. Great to learn the history of Katherine. Russian peanut farmers who would have thought. So worth a visit.
Lovely friendly staff with great information too on what’s happing in Katherine.
Spent good 3+ hours fascinated.
A well appointed museum with a little of everything. Lots of well presented displays and information. And of course my favourite, old trucks and earth moving equipment. Thoroughly enjoyed my time at the museum
Very well set up and a wealth of information about the region, the settlers, the indigenous land owners, RDFS, old telegraph service, etc
Great venue for the twilight fair. Also a wonderful place to discover the rich history of Katherine.
This museum has an remarkably well told and unexpected history of Katherine. There are lots of artefacts donated by the locals and the staff are very knowledgeable on the towns history
An interesting place to visit. There are displays of clothing and wedding dresses, some from when the war visited the area. History of early telegraph lines, flying doctors and other settlers.
Well worth the visit. Lots of interesting info and displays. Heaps of old tractors, machinery etc.
Great place check out Stolen Generation healing reflection garden and other history of the region
Give yourself plenty of time to look around here. So interesting. So much to read if you're interested in the history of Australia.
The big shed holds the most interesting information so make sure you leave enough time to fully take in this part of the museum. Lots of interesting information about the people who have had an impact on Katherine and its people.
Extremely interesting history of the area and some great displays of period artifacts. Very informative and helpful staff. Some interesting stuff to buy from the store.
Very unfriendly lady at the reception. Sorry, we won't come back. It's a shame for the museum to have such incompetent staff. Not often people have been that unfriendly here in Australia.
Amazing place to hold a function of any type & also to have a look around, so much history and all expertly displayed. Staff super helpful
An amazing range of History on display. Been travelling through Katherine over last 15 years, and today we stopped for a few day's to look around. We will come back to take in more from this museum. Just amazing!
Surprisingly good, I shouldn't say that but I expected a dry old bunch of stuff, it was extensive, informative, well looked after, a credit to the community.
Definitely worth a look. The volunteers working there are very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions.
Enjoyed two hours learning about the diverse history of Katherine region.really well developed story boards with just enough information.
Staff are interesting and helpful too and well worth the $10 entry.
Excellent, Fabulous, Educational. This museum is the best I've ever seen or been too. The display of memorabilia and Australian history will have you staying for hours. Most buildings are air conditioned, ample free parking, also room for caravans etc. When visiting Katherine this is a must see display.
Very well set out. So much history here. Lots of interesting artefacts. Was $10 to get in and around. Nice looking garden that we didn't venture into. I was excited to learn about the local mob here and their fight for their lands including getting the title to the Katherine Gorge.
