Kata Tjuta Sunset View Area reviews
31It was mainly the lookouts of the Valley of the Winds that we visited. It climbs steeply so you need to wear good shoes and a cap with a mosquito net because there are lots of flies. The colors are very beautiful
We arrived just for sunset, it takes us 20 minutes from the hotel. They have parking lots and to get to the viewpoint there is a path. Above there are two platforms from which you can see the two monoliths on the right, the Urulu and on the left, the Kata Tjuṯa.
Was beyond all expectations, in many ways a more exciting view than than Uluru despite being less famous.
Magic place stunningly beautiful A lot of people come and go all year round.to see the big red rock central australia
This is a review for the Katja Tuja sunset viewing area - not the walk through the area, unlike a few other reviews here (sound of facepalm here).
You'll need a park ticket to get here, which can be purchased either online or at the park entrance ticket kiosk. There is no mobile phone signal too - but you can get reception at the sunrise viewing area.
There's plenty of parking, drinking water via a huge tank and toilets, which are of the long drop type and smelly, (which is odd, as most don't emit any of our when they're properly maintained) but better than no loo at all. Be prepared for bush flies, but no mozzies, at least during my visit
There's plenty of parking and plenty of space to watch the sun setting on the rocks. You may wish to arrive 25 mins before sunset to really appreciate the area, rather than turn up for the spectacle only. Parking is suitable for coaches, so be prepared for crowds, noise and arrogant tourists with significant camera equipment whose need to capture the moment is blatantly of greater requirement than yours.
Visited with family, weekday, August, no issues. And don't forget to look the other way occasionally, as the setting sun can be spectacular in itself.
Absolutely glorious. We waited for the sunset and watched Kata Tjuta change colours constantly. Beautiful. And a beautiful part of the world.
Amazing place. If you can manage to do a medium level of difficulty in walking over broken rocks then this is something you cannot miss out on.
Amazing experience. It was just magical.
Our tour guide/driver had so much local knowledge and he gave us such in depth talk about the local area it was like a lesson.
The refreshments were of the beat quality and variety.
Appreciate it a lot.
Thank you
Always the bridesmaid. This magnificent site is full of wonder. Something that has sat in my mind for 35 years when I made the national documentary, Centrepoint, for World Geographic and Channel 7. A marvel of Nature in the centre of our country. Australia.
Beautiful place with great view for having your meal. The only toilet in the area is here. Unfortunately the light wasn't working at night.
Great place to see the sunset over the rock faces of Kata Tjuta. Arrive around 30-45 minutes to secure a good spot. There are benches to sit on for those who don’t want to stand.
The viewing area is around 200m from the car park.
Great tour and people BUT it would have been nice to stop at the view point for just 10/ 15 minutes to have a view of the side view of the rocks.
Really nice, you’re able to see the iconic red shades of the rocks during the sunset:) worth the wait!
Amazing place for a sunset view! Loved every minute of it! Absolutely 10/10 experience! The change of colour is so beautiful!
Walk is between boulders up hill over Rocky uneven terrain and down again. Bad for doggie knees coming back down again over Rocky uneven ground.
This is the most important car park in Kata Tjuta as this is the only one with toilets. The next toilets are at the Uluru cultural centre. There are a few viewpoints with seating benches and sheltered picnic areas around the car park. Drinking water is available here.
I was a little disappointed by the view offered at this spot, with a lot of scrub and trees right in front of the official viewing area and no raised platforms available. There was also limited seating.
The toilets, however, were great.
Look, Kata Tjuta is simply amazing and definitely should be visited; I just think your time would be better spent actually exploring the formations than watching the sunset against what is, realistically, only a small section of the rock.
Great views, you will see similar colours and shades as Uluru but on a completely different rock formation.approx 5 minutes walk from carpark.only facilities near the carpark are toilets.bring plenty of drinking water.in summer the flies are unbearable (fly repellent does not work) and ruin the experience as you can't even take a photo without them sitting all over your face. Bring a fly net along so they you can watch the sunset in peace.
We got unlucky and there were clouds which made for a less stunning sunset. Still a nice spot to watch the sunset.
AAT Kings provided an awesome sunset experience. Although the sun was under the clouds, our knowledgeable guide made all the difference. Also provided some awesome Aussie wines, beers and canapés
