Stunning scenery along the gorge walk! Very hot in December, but manageable with refreshing dips in the water holes.

Really enjoyed camping here. (BYO water)
4WD track in is narrow but we found it no trouble.
Chain of Ponds loop is a must.
We also walked the ridgetop which was lovely and found ourselves at Trephina Gorge without too much trouble. Luckily got a lift back to John Hayes campground, though we saw a few parties that looked like they were happy to walk between John Hayes and Trephina along the road in the evening. Probably nice in the cool of the day.

It is a 4WD track in to John Hayes Rock Hole so if you have one definitely visit! You can also walk in if you prefer. The rock hole was a lovely sight once you arrive, and you can climb above to see even more rock holes if you are up for it. There are toilet facilities at the camp and the last 300m in is a very bumpy rocky ride, the rest is just corrugated.

Good 4x4 drive, water not so good looking needs a good rain flush. But lovely area good stop for your own coffee and snack/lunch

Very nice secluded campsite with some beautiful scenery and plenty of wildlife. The track in is very narrow with very few passing places so if you meet oncoming traffic there is a good chance someone is going to have to reverse a fair distance. It is for this reason that towing anything in here is not recommended. There is also not a lot of space at the campground to turn if towing anything large.
