Jaiho Restaurant reviews
50 We ordered the butter chicken and the lamb Korma. The best I have ever tasted. So delicious.recommend.
Absolutely to die for.
The worst experience that I have had a a restaurant!
My partner and I had been recommended to give it a try as our friends had previously ordered food.
So we placed an order over the phone and stopped into for pick up a litttle earlier than when it was ready!
As we entered the restaurant, the Indian women preparing in the kitchen, greeted us but had dropped a Nan Bread as she was moving towards the counter.
Given that she didn’t pick it up and put it in the bin right away, we kept an eye on her as she spoke to other customers and moved back into the kitchen.
As she did, she looked back briefly then placed it on the opposite counter. At this stage, I wasn’t quite happy as there was an obvious bin next to it. However, it wasn’t on the main table top so I thought I’d give her the benefit of the doubt.
But no, when she thought we were out of site, she quickly grabbed the bread and placed it on top of someone’s pile.
After a short quote discussion with my partner, we decided that we would not proceed with our order and out of respect, I spoke to the woman and quietly told her our reasons for cancelling.
At that moment, she totally changed her demeanour and tone of voice. Vocalising her innocence and claiming that I was lying. Of which I asked her to show us the bin, which she was unable to do.
So her only response was to say that she was going to “punish me and wish bad things”. Not only did I think this was immature but very inappropriate.
I was not there to embarrass her or her business, but support the business until I was not happy with the food standards.
The palak paneer and dal makhani was delicious. Thank you chef Digvijay for a great meal. He took extra care of the dal makhani - his favourite dish.
Ordered at 4pm to pick-up at 5pm on the way home from picking up the kids. Arrived just before 5pm, only to be told they hadn't started making it yet, said it would be 5-10 minutes. 20 minutes later the food was ready. Explained my frustration to the person at the front and was completely ignored, they didn't even acknowledge me, say sorry or anything. I was the only customer there so they weren't busy. The place is old, run down, most of the lights aren't even turned on, would never consider dining in. Food's good, reasonably priced.
Hardly provide feedback esp if it’s negative:
So foos was good but I had to chase about 6 times to grab my tax invoice which I need for work propose but absolutely being reluctant less on providing one!
I feel the owner/ manager is good but staff over the phone (female) was just useless
I came here with family. I cannot express how great the service was.
Absolutely amazing food and amazing service, we came for the food and stayed for the conversation with the owner. I’m here on holiday but when I next come through Alice Springs I will definitely come back here.
Not worth it at all.
Ordered food last night for delivery. No response from restaurant when called to check if how long it’s gonna take. Food arrived after 2 hrs. The goat curry we ordered has no meat pieces to find in it. It looked like it has been heated like 100 times before being delivered. All the meat was falling apart in the curry. We spend around $70 for one old curry and 4 naan breads. It’s the second time it happen. Not going there again.
No stars. Was delivered food that was off. The rice stank and the meat was bordering on off. Restaurant offered a new batch. The second delivery never came. (They had the address wrong). One person who ate from the first batch got sick. The other had a bad stomach too. We were told to contact menulog. Menulog told us to contact the restaurant. The restaurant said they'd pick up the old food to get it tested but they never came. Instead the attitude started per text messages. Nearly $50 down the drain. Time to lawyer up!
Unbelievable:
Tried to openly rip me off with fake, handwritten bill. Inflated by almost 100%, double the amount.
Sneaked in three alcoholic drinks thinking I'm stupid enough to fall for it!
And then attempted to overcharge AUD 17 for two tiny cups of black tea whereas that should have been AUD 9 at the most, if that. Given I spend a fair bit, this should have been complimentary.
Ended writing my own bill and paid exactly what they deserved.should have walked out not paying at all for the attempt to being ripped off.
Taking advantage of the fact that tea was not an item on the menu also and just making up price "on the spot", obviously, completely unreasonable.
Even in a 5 star luxury resort you wouldn't pay AUD 8.50 for a tiny cup of black tea and this was a very average Indian restaurant, haha.
Also inflated the actual prices for EVERY single item including salad, hot drinks, mains and bread. The excuse was there will be a "new menu out soon"
If you'd like to be ripped off, feel free to come here, what a joke!
Jaiho catered for our wedding recently at an external venue - they were fantastic to work with. Out of all the caterers we explored in Alice, we found them the most professional and easy to work with. They helped us create a menu that suited exactly what we wanted - Vijay and his family have significant experience catering large events and straight away put us at ease. They were a delight to work with. The food was delicious, great variety and all of our wedding guests raved about the food. Amazing value.
Service is so slow.ridiculous.
Delivery order ETA 29mins and an hour n a half later still waiting!
Make a phonecall, and you get told, it's bloody coming!
This is a 5 minute town from one end to the other.how can it take that long!
I ordered momos and they rotten was tasting like most savoury thing i have ever eaten. Had one and threw them all. Never again
Look we all know the food is fantastic. Like so good. So very good. But omfg never order when you are hungry. Both pick up and delivery options take between 1.5 to 2 hours every time. Every time.
I hate to write this, but the customer service was quite appalling. As I can see, I'm not the only one who had to wait more than an hour for my order despite a quiet day. Hygiene was revolting, I could see there wasn't much regard for customer safety, in these times of COVID as well!
They should rather change to a take away shop. We waited more than an hour for our food while the same menulog made three deliveries
Had a delicious and heartwarming meal on our first night at Alice Springs. The chicken Chettinad and the Dhal Mhakni were absolutely amazing!
Too expensive and oilly for what you get. Just mostly liquid in curry. Indians usually ripping u off.
Beautiful food. We were not rushed and had a very relaxing experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant. The naan was the best I have ever had. The Butter Chicken was delish.
Wayyyyy Tooooooo slow, 1.5 hour wait for a meal, had other people say the same thing.spoke to a cabbie, he said the same thing. I got a bone in the prawn curry nearly cracked my tooth. The food is not bad. Give it try but be prepared to wait over an hour even for starters.
The meal was fresh and very tasty, and the naan was delightful, I had the lamb.the service was always pleasant with a friendly smile.
