Holmes Jungle Nature Park reviews
2 It's a nice area with toilets and a picnic area near the car park. The first half of the walk is mostly scrubland terrain, but at around the halfway point you walk into a thick tropical jungle environment. It's so abrupt that it's almost like stepping from the outside to indoors. You'll see some of the massive flying foxes that are native to the area and lots of birds too. Part of the Jungle walk has been closed off due to flooding, but it's signposted so you won't get lost.
On the whole it's worth a look.
This is a great state park. You can do two walks back to back in less than an hour spanning savannah woodland to monsoon forest. In the dry there's no mosquitoes but in the wet you definitely want to cover up. It's really beautiful especially when the little creeks are flowing. The best part: most of the walk is in shade, which is a rarity in Darwin. I've gone here with a bub in a carrier a few times now and highly recommend it.
