We have attended for dinner and also a recent Christmas lunch. The restaurant has great meals with stunning views, which I would give 4 stars. I have yet to stay there so can't comment on rooms but they have a great Art Centre on site aswell.

Wonderful place to relax in first class beach side accommodation. The staff all went out of their way to ensure a great experience. The meals and bar prices were quite reasonable. The pool and general ambience were also excellent. The flight from Darwin to Groote Eylandt by Chartair was also a great way to see Arnhem land and get a real perspective of the vastness of the top end.
All in all an evidence that shouldn't be missed.

No swimming in the sea unless you want to get eaten by a crocodile. Be weary of them on the beach to.

What an awesome time! We had a week stay with 6 days fishing and a rest day in between. Fishing was amazing. Each day we hit different spots and caught a huge variety of fish. Our guide Jon was a legend, making sure we had a good time on the water. I wasnt sure how keen I'd be for 6 days of fishing as my partner is way more the fisherman than me but I loved it! To be honest it's worth the boat trips just to see the scenery. The best catch of the day were prepared for our dinner, absolutely delicious! All the staff were super friendly and made our stay as comfortable as possible. Would definately go back!

This is my 2nd trip to Groote Eylandt lodge for a fishing adventure. I knew it would be a hard ask for the lodge and guide to beat or equal my first visit. But they did, put simply the fishing was outstanding, our guide johnathan eddy was fantastic with endless fishing knowledge and a great sense of humour he did all the messy work of baiting hooks and taking the fish of the hooks. He worked tirelessly to make sure we were catching fish he seemed to have advance knowledge of where the fish were as we were always catching fish. Every day we landed monster fish from giant Trevaly, golden snapper, queen fish through to mackerel and tuna. The gear we used was well maintained and the boat is very comfortable even if the seas are a little rough. What fish we decided to keep was cooked that night by the fantastic chefs in the restaurant.
It’s hard to imagine a 5 star lodge being able to operate so well so far from the mainland but they do it really well.the staff were constantly at hand making sure we were happy and looked after. I would 100% recommend staying and Groote Eylandt lodge and going on a fishing trip you won’t be disappointed ask for them to take you to the north of archipelago it’s out of this world.

We stayed at Groote Eyelandt Lodge as a group of eight fishermen. From the moment we landed at the airport on the island, the service was top notch and we were treated like royalty. Every need was catered to, which made our stay very relaxing and enjoyable.

The fishing charters were also incredible with great quality boats and local knowledge.

Each night our catch of the day was prepared by the chef at the lodge, who is fantastic - think sashimi tuna and queen fish, followed by perfectly grilled white fish each night.

Five stars all round.

The location of the Lodge, set on the edge of the sea with rooms set out amongst the natural rocks and bush, is an excellent location. The views of the sunset are spectacular and the walks along the beach are beautiful. The dry season weather is amazing and the staff are very good. Food is very pricy, but that's to be expected.

This place could have so much going for it but it's stuck in a time warp (& not an interesting one) and the menu is unreliable and dishes expensive. Don't expect fresh veggies (everything is frozen) and even the guacamole comes from a package. Views are breathtaking and the nightly entertainment from the sugar gliders who come out to snag chips are a memorable addition. Would love to see this place truly shine and embrace the Anindilyakwa lands and people in an interesting way and not just be another overpriced and disappointing NT restaurant that gets by purely on its scenery (and in this case the fact that you are very limited for options on Groote).
