Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve reviews
36Really cool place, very lush wetlands and monsoon forest. Lots of bird life, and insects. Loved it here- had a lovely walk through the monsoon forest. The kids found it creepy as they were worried about crocodiles. Highly recommend if you are heading out that way.
Excellent and beautiful and totally worth going to see especially on sunset, there’s load of beautiful introduced waterlillies, plenty of birds including black neck storks, might even see a buffalo and a crocodile if you look closely but not too close! It’s also free how’s that for a bargain.
Fogg Dam is well worth the 1hr drive from Darwin. We did see our first Croc in the wild down the end off the viewing platforms. Beautiful scenery along the Dam wall drive too.
Great place to view beautiful natural wetlands enviro. Saw a croc right beside the road, and many dozens birds feeding. Well worth a day trip only 20mins past humpty doo on arnhem hwy.
This conservation area is amazing. There are so many different bird species here. The two designated tracks offer different specialities. The left boardwalk track is beautiful, especially when the Lotus Lilly are in bloom. The right track offers more rainforest-like birds such as Rose-crowned Fruit-dove and Rainbow Pitta.
Don't miss the road down the middle. It can't be walked due to crocs, but you are still able to drive through and stop at the hides along the way. At the end of the track there is a multi level bird hide where you can spot many more birds and possibly crocs.
It is best to visit this place early in the morning (dry season) for maximum birds, and comfort temperature wise.
If you are visiting NT and you like birds or nature areas, definitely visit this place!
Incredible concentration of a huge number of different birds. The forest walk is fantastic, very beautiful, couldn't help walking quietly just to capture all the sounds. A special place to visit, and so close to Darwin
Best time ever.perfect weather after tropical low.saw some fishes jumping off the road.and those greenery with lots flowers made the trip amazing.
A great spot to get out and see some water birds of the Top End. Such a huge expanse of wetlands! Watch out for mozzies though.
Great bird life was part of our trip with Adelaide River jumping Crocs thanks Simon another great interaction on our tour
We came here to wait for a jumping croc tour and we are so glad we did visit this area. There are 3 mains walks which are displayed on the information board, all of them were great. Currently the main dam wall is closed for walking due to crocs (but you can still drive and quickly get out!) The walks are very easy and flat, great for all and shaded in most areas. You will see stunning birdlife and lilies in this region, it’s amazing.

Nice place to visit if you like looking at birds in their natural habitat. No sighting of crops even though the guide said they were some living there.
Kakadu for locals. Absolutely loved the bird watching and the short walks. Sensational wetland area.
Gorgeous walk. We did the monsoon walk, saw some massive beautiful Orb spiders. The walk was pretty and the moonsoon forest was stunning. You end on a raised walkway over the water and it is stunning.
Absolutely amazing to much to take in at once, birds galore, buffalo and amazing views everywhere. Beautiful place to visit
A birders (or Twitcher’s) paradise. Bring your binoculars and enjoy many water birds, and some woodland birds,
I had the most incredible experience here. The monsoon walking track will stay with me forever! No crocodiles in the wetlands but it was the wrong season for it. A truly beautiful place!
Beautiful to see a bit more water at Fogg Dam today. Not much in the way of birds to see but a nice drive to get out of the city and lot's of Lotus Lily's in flower.
Did an escape drive out of darwin and did not know what to expect. The park is well managed with sturdy lookout platforms. Peaceful and educational, a great day out.
Fantastic, Wet Lands, photos, wildlife, birds birds and more birds. Would be better in a few more weeks when into the wet season
Was so disappointed, the lack of mimosa management has left the lagoon birdless, fishless and a really poor show. As a tourist attraction it rates really low and NTG should feel shamed. The monsoon walk is closed again (or is that still). This was such a good spot, close to 'town'.
