Dunmarra Roadhouse reviews
36 Dunmarra was our dinner stop on the Greyhound bus route from Darwin to Tennant Creek.
Fast, cheerful service and generous portions were the order of the day, so much so that this hungry traveller couldn't finish his massive bowl of tasty, hot chips.
Great breakfast, no air-conditioning when we went through, but great outdoor seating area we will be back petrol prices were reasonable.
Good food. Tired facilities and rooms. Fine for an overnight stay. I was disappointed on arrival to find the pool empty and disused.
Convenient stop enroute to Queensland. Arrived at 8pm and still got dinner. Had fisherman’s basket with a quality salad, best part of the meal. Expensive morning coffee. Rooms old motel style but comfortable. Door to bathroom got stuck but was able to fix.
Green grass, shady trees, and home made pies all excellent. Its facilities are OK but overall a convenient onite stop.
Service was a but underwhelming at first but actually just quietly spoken and going about their daily lives. Great home made pies and sausage rolls, makes a change to the packaged Mrs Macs that are in a lot of places. Toilets not so great. A good place to stretch the legs, and look at a roadhouse that has a sniff of days gone by still lingering
Not bad. Had a steak sandwich with the lot and found half the contents missing.no onion, beetroot or pineapple, and for $19, was a bit rich. Toilets in need of desperate help cleanliness wise. Lovely old doggie greeted us at the entrance, she was gorgeous!
I ordered a coffee and steak sandwich. Both were good. Then i tried to get fuel on my motorcycle and the owner's dog (reported by the people running the place) first attacked my tyres and while I was trying to avoid the dog it went for my leg. It only tore my jeans and their response was to tell the dog in a normal voice that it was a naughty boy, then I asked for compensation for my jeans and was laughed at. If you own a vehicle where the dog can get at your body. WATCH OUT.
I DO NOT RECCOMEND DUNMARRA ROADHOUSE. They do not take resonability for what happens on their property.
Been a while since had homemade pies on my trip this is first one in NT for me so good esp if you love chunky beef pie.
Lovely couple running the servo and bar very friendly shame we missed out on your own beer maybe next time
Owned by an older couple, they have their own home made pies and good service and food/drink every time I've been there
Going up we got lucky and bought snot block, French pastry chef couldn’t achieve this level of excellence my friends, this is CWA gold.
So I’m not really a pie eater, but on our way down again we were too early for snot so I decided to give it my all and buy a pie and the carrot cake on offer… if you’ve been following me then you’ll know I like carrot cake and this is again a gold medal moment for Dunmarra.
The pie was excellent, normally I’d only buy a pie if it came dressed up on a fancy plate with cutlery, but the paper bag was the perfect support partner here and a culinary marvel not to be missed.
Yes the dunnies have seen better days, but they’re clean and working, and the caravan park looks green and fresh. This is Aussie icon at its best and not to missed.
I add evidence of consumption, I forgot to take the ‘before’ photo!
A small tidy camp ground with large grassy sites and plenty of shade. A welcome stopover when travelling along the Stuart Hwy. Good meals and friendly staff. Worth a look next time you're passing
Lovely green grass and huge shade trees. Facilities clean but older style but loved the toilet and shower combo cubicles- great to use. Cost reasonable at $19 unpowered per night for two adults.
After reading the reviews about the vanilla slice, we stopped this morning a got some. Well it was delicious and worth the stop. The chicken dim Sims also lovely. Thanks for providing this lovely treat, will stop in on our way home again.
This place is always a good stop for fuel, but on the last occasion the toilets were filthy.
That said, the home made pies and vanilla slices are award worthy.
The owner was really kind and nice, but unfortunately no vanilla slice at the wet season, the food was really fresh compare with other place roadhouse, highly recommend stop and rest there.
Only one thing would like to suggest the owner, it can assemble extra water tube to let air condition water pass through on side, otherwise every time when you open the door then the air-con water will drop on your head, it’s quite annoying.
Stayed overnight in the campground. Nice shady spot with great birdlife. Seriously needs new loos and a BBQ. The Donga toilets were dirty and outdated. The BBQ and BBQ area should be replaced. Totally unuseable. The pool was nice and refreshing.
I spent a night in the motel. It was a bargain. The food is excellent the staff were great. I will plan a stop here when I come by in the future.
I would not recommend Dunmarra roadhouse to stay we were squashed in like sardines could not put out awning showers were awful
