Chilli's Backpackers reviews
20Its not too bad but the wifi is the worst one ive ever seen in a hostel.make sure to have enough data hahaha
Value for money.paid 19 for a dorm and people were good.kitchen needs an oven but otherwise all good.need a bit of common sense to figure out that showers are 1 temperature for a reason.the rest a drifter like myself can easily navigate.:)
My partner and I stayed there one night and unsurprisingly didn't have a good night of sleep. But you get what you pay for. We were in a 4-bed dorm which was very noisy even with the windows closed.
Fortunately the AIRCON was WORKING, because it was really hot in the small room.
The sink (see photo attached) in the room is convenient but NOT CLEAN.
Lots of MOULD everywhere.
On the 2nd floor, there was only one shower and toilet accessible. Really slippery in there, and we could hear water from the shower dripping. We had our shower on the 1st floor, but there was NO HOT WATER.
About the customer service, the afternoon staff member was really helpful and welcoming, whereas the night and morning ones weren't that much.
For the incl.breakfast, there was bread, jam, butter, coffee and milk that you could get from the ground floor.
Very NICE sauna area.
It's a clean place with functioning Ac, friendly staff and nice guests. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in Darwin.
Super nice, calm and clean hostel. We’ve got an absolutely clean room with fridge, TV and own basin. Nice pool area and friendly staff. Just the kitchen is a bit dirty.
Best hostel we stayed in Darwin!
It's Darwin so you can't expect much for your money. However, the location is good, the WiFi is pretty decent and there are computers for free use. There is a decent amount of common area space and the rooms are about okay too. It's solely the kitchen that's really small and usually dirty that is a bother. Otherwise the place can be pretty loud at night.
No idea what we just paid $65 per night for. Good location but we had a private double room with someone else's used tissues beside the bed (gag!), right on top of our nice fresh towels too. Never had a hot shower at the place no matter what time I got up.
Nice and clean, big kitchen area, spa area with loungers and two good hot tubs. Quiet enough to get good sleep but close enough to the pubs and clubs that you can easily go out and have a party
Room wasn't too clean and the bathroom was broken so I had to go down to the floor level to have a shower.
The bathrooms were cleaner than expected - Dorms were smelly & unclean! The kitchen is very basic, small & needs some love and attention. Compared to the others probably the quietest hostel on the strip!
We really prefer this hostel when in Darwin. The city itself don't have that many "good" and cheep" places to stay at. Chilli's is relatively clean, has nice dorms, and you get your own locker in the room. They have a no alcohol policy so the guests are overall quiet and respectful.
Worst hostel I have slept in in the 8 months I have been in Australia. Where to start. Maybe with the cockroaches and bugs that crawl over you during the night. Maybe with the ceiling fan that was covered in dust. Maybe with the showers that are dirty at night and have no hot water in the morning. Maybe with the fact that if you are on the ground floor you are literally next to an alley where car parks and therefore accelerate right next to you. Maybe with the fact that backpackers here run wild and can play music very loud until veeeery late without being told to keep quiet. Yes it is very well located but it's not worth it. We had a reservation for another night in a few days but we cancelled it and hopefully we'll find something better that this.
Great central location. Sparse room but a good little fridge. TV reception patchy. Good free wifi. Very few on site parks. Most of the problems are Darwin problems and not issues with this backpackers specifically.
Gute Zimmer, saubere Badezimmer und nette Lounge. "Pools" sehr klein, aber trotzdem wirklich gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.
Chilli’s hostel is located in the middle of the CBD. I arrived in mid January during the wet season when tourism was at its lowest. 16 weeks I was here due to the 88days, over the weeks felt like serenity. I stayed in a 4 bedroom with only me in the room for $168 a week. Brilliant.
At week 12 I desired to get a car and park it in the back. To do this I needed to get the key in the reception to open the gate. “Sorry, we have no keys” 4 weeks went by and still no key. In the end this made me angry. I went to the manager and her suggestion was to ask everyone in the hostel to see who had the key and see when they checked out or ask all the staff in the place to hold me one. Why should I the customer be held this responsibility? Iv been a long term stay and this turned my serenity to disrespect to the place. Good place, just don’t get a car.
Thanks For The Hospitality! I’ll Be Back! During My Week Stay I Managed To Lose My Keys To The Locker And My Room Many Times, Staff Was Always So Cool, Even Cut The Lock Off And Alway Had A Smile. Great People!
Very nice, kind people and a good night's rest for the price. Breakfast is coffee, bread, butter and jam
There’s a fridge in the room! And AC. You can bring alcohol into the hostel, but strictly no glass!
Free wifi on the whole premise, but slow.
26$ a day, 24$ if you book for a week (wet season price?)
Very good and clean showers, but the toilets could be cleaner.
Strange bunk bed ladder, not easy to get up and down.
It's so disgusting, top to bottom. I stayed a week there and after booking into Youth Shack was told it's closed so they had a room for me at chillies instead. Keep in mind chillies has no pool, bar or pool tables. It also has so many staff walking around like they own the place, smoking in the dining area where it clearly states No Smoking, and yet the place is filthy. Nothing is cleaned properly, so the urine and feces you see on most of the toilet seats are left there to haunt you. Building is not secure so you feel unsafe and overall, would not recommend it.
Rooms are okay, staff is friendly, breakfast is provided, spa and lounge area and located in the city center.
