The Bowlo Bistro reviews
30$55 for a schnitzel and spring rolls… And even at this price sadly dinner was undercooked and still raw/frozen on the inside. When we asked for a replacement that’s fully cooked, they just chucked the existing food back in the fryer for a few more minutes and gave us back the burnt ends.
Biggest T.bone steak I have ever eaten and so tender a must do on Norfolk Island and only $34
Lovely place for a drink and relaxed pub type meal. Our group had 2 Crumbed fish meals which were both dry, over cooked and average, The battered fish and steak were great. Maybe just an error on the night, otherwise good for easy feed.
For the price, quality and quantity, the best place to eat on the Island. My sister and I visited the island and it seemed there was a general shortage of fresh veg. Meals were simple and well-presented club fare, with an adequate salad.
Great lunch venue. Generous appetising well presented meals in a relaxing environment. Each meal we had at the Bowlo was special. Another, must do on any NI holiday.
Loved the food here that was excellent value for money and generous portion sizes.
I dined twice during my stay and could not speak highly enough of the experience.
The Bowlo Bistro serves a great range of meals for dinner and can get very busy. So remember that your not in a big capital city and your meal will come but served in Pacific time.
Good range of beverages, however soft drinks might not be available on the odd occasion because the freight hasn't arrived.
Staff are very friendly and happy to assist you.
Highly recommended
Excellent food. Three Gluten Free options available. Good priced drinks. Fair priced food. A bit slow for the food to arrive, but it was a busy Sunday night. Lots of locals dining in was a good sign.
Lay back and friendly.
Bar opens at 1500 daily, inexpensive drinks and good club meals.
Our favourite place to dine at. Fairly costly, but what isn't on Norfolk Island? Food was good quality and more than sufficient. Club is very popular and as a result is very noisy but well worth visiting.
Visited here after having dinner the previous evening in a much more renown restaurant.
While the atmosphere was as you could expect from a local bowling club we were very surprised by the size and quality of local fish dishes. We chose it with mash and vege and were not disappointed.
Very friendly staff!
And the coconut pie for dessert was to die for.
We will come again!
Enjoyed everything we ate here and the value is the best we found on Norfolk. Tried battered Trumpeter, pan fried King Fish, Ceasar Salad & BLT. All excellent, great side salads and perfect fries.
Bar was also great value and the service good too. Great spot in the middle of town.
Brilliant lucked out and arrived during happy hours. 4/6pm. Enjoy a great location. Back tomorrow
Cold beer / friendly staff / fair prices / cold wine. Unfortunately bistro being renovated
Just go!
We had the best time on Norfolk Island. We ate at the bowls club a lot, and it didn't disappoint. Yummy desserts too!
If every visiting Norfolk Island this is the place for a meal. Either lunch or dinner both great value and variety. No problems serving the multitude of people who turn up. Usually no worries getting a table but with more and more people finding this great food that is served there, just drop in early and get a reservation. Also great prices on the menu and freshly caught fish of the day and a great beer / wine served at the bar with great wait staff and friendly approach well recommend this venue.
Great place to have lunch and dinner. Seafood dishes are a must. Betty and the staff are fantastic. Worth a try. Booking daily. It is so good that we were there 2 nights in a roll.
Absolutely incredible food, doesn't get any better than here. Lively atmosphere and a welcoming place to visit if you'd like to chat with the locals.
The Bistro in the Bowling Club has an excellent menu. Quality food and generous portions with a friendly service make this one of the best on the island. We went there early, around 5 pm so were lucky to find a table. Could be harder to get a table if late proving this is one of the best.
