Wollongong Golf Club reviews
62Always good staying at the 19th Hole Best Westin Wollongong. However the rooms need an upgrade. Curtains had holes in them. We were moved to a new room as the ac wasn't working due to storm damages. The new room was smaller than the original.
Excellent course, well maintained, central area, beautiful ocean views. Nice club house too.
It was my first time eating at the club tonight, and I can sum it up in two words.overpriced and mediocre!
I'm just glad I didn't order the fish & chips (it was served on a piece of paper on top of the plate), or the $24 cheeseburger (it was served in a plastic basket?).
Very poor for the venue it's trying to pass it self off as.
Stayed at the Best Western Sands Hotel, right on the golf course. What a top spot, staff are really friendly. Great rooms, and service excellent, will be back.
Four lunched here. Rather expensive food but very expensive Beveridge.
Probably many better options near by.
Well, it’s overpriced to start with, $24 for a burger and $24 for 3 bangers and mash, but that would be ok if the meals came with some quality. It seems like the small number of diners is a reflection of the meals. This being local for us, it would be good to see it do well, but someone needs to take a serious look at what’s on offer if they are going to get locals as repeat customers. Can’t see us returning anytime soon unfortunately
The place is a real treat. Relax with good company, a delicious feed and a pleasant beverage. The day view out over the golf course then out to the Tasman. Just superb.
Great prices for drinks and great food selection. Golf clubs can seem like a place for the "elderly" but is most definitely an option for people wanting a place for a drink and chat amongst friends.
We had the most amazing experience due to some outstanding staff who worked miracles for us. Liane in reception, Talia in functions and Simon in F and B.amongst the stars. They organised a wedding in 2 hours without flinching.
Food is overpriced and not very good at all. I've tried several things on the menu and have been totally unimpressed. Went a couple of Sundays ago for a Sunday roast carvery. Well it's served to you, with a couple of bits of meat that was inedible, two potatoes not roasted, a bit of wilted Kale and salad consisting of a bit of lettuce, a tiny bit of tomato, 1 piece of tomato and a whole lot of potato salad. I'm not eating there again, not until they change who is cooking in the kitchen.
Ordered medium rare steak today. Received it well done. It’s not hard to cook a steak to order so that says it all. If the cook (wouldn’t call them a chef) can’t get that right, well…
Average to below average bistro food. Dont buy the bruscetta. Chopped sundries tomatoes and cottage cheese is not the traditional ingredientsI expected. Could not eat it.
I've been a playing member at Wollongong Golf Club for 18 months now and really enjoy the course, friendly staff and great facilities. Fantastic Club!
We had a family lunch there and the quality of the meal did not reach expectations. Some family members had been there previously and noted that the standard of the food has dropped.
We had crumbed cutlets with panko crumbs, potaoes and green beans with shaved parmeson cheese, delicious at $27 members, $29 non members. Cookies and cream cheesecake $7.50 members. Both were together were extremely filling. Staff friendly, service was quick. Beautiful views looking over golf course and ocean. Extensive parking avail on-site and free.
Stopped for a beer and a snack at the 19th hole bar. Nice bar, lovely outlook. Potential to be fantastic but,
spoiled by a poor menu and the food that was served was terrible. Almost all deep fried out of the freezer. Chef is either uninspired, lazy or hamstrung by management. Nothing on the menu to be proud of.
Otherwise a really nice spot for a beer and chat.
Great food at a function, but upstairs bar closed early if NO function on.
However, nice surroundings, friendly staff.
The food and service at the "new" bistro called The Deck were awful (for all 4 of us). Please bring back previous cooks/managers.
A very nice relaxing and had diner, great service, good food and it's clean, enjoyed the evening
Posted golf there yesterday the course is in good condition considering all the rain we have had. I would like to see some signage on each hole and maybe a pic of the hole you are playing. Maybe get some better drainage on the course.
