1 Would not recommend this Accountant, I engaged him to do my account for the small business I run. I paid him a $250 monthly retainer to do my Quarterly Bas Statements, Company returns, Financials and private returns. I recently found out that for the 2017 Finacial year he "forgot" to lodge the first two quarterly BAS statements and presented me in April with a Tax bill including three-quarters of payments, and ATO interest charges which significantly affect my cash flow. I also realised, beside me requesting my 2016 tax returns to be filed in October 2006, and several reminders from my end he only filed in April 2017 after more reminders.
Looking for a new accountant, I met four other accountants in Bella Vista and realised that he charges around 1/3 more for his work than any of his competitors.
To file a null return for a non-trading shelf company I also have he wanted $1700 (that’s for 2 hours of work) my new accountant did this free of charge.
I took now several weeks to receive a refund for the upfront payments I made for the services he did not deliver. He still charged me for 3 Bas statements even though they where all filed in one go instead of quarterly.
In the three years I have been with him not once has he called me and offered to discuss any tax advise or improvements which what I realised now pretty much every other accountant does at least at the last quarter of the financial year.
Glad to have moved on now
