White Rabbit Gallery reviews
47 Oppressive atmosphere set by serious face attendants almost blocking your path on every level of the otherwise could be intriguing art gallery of Chinese art
But OTOH it also matches the feeling China gives to the democratic world - that of an oppressive surveillance state - so no need to go to China - visit this gallery and feel oppressed!
Oh and don’t make my mistake and turn up on a Tuesday! - it’s only open Wednesday to Sunday 10-5
Really great experience! The i am the people exhibition was very interesting, and had some fun interactive pieces, gift shop was also really nice, next time i will have to go to the teahouse section xoxo
Wonderful experience on my first visit to this lovely Art Gallery, Highly recommended if you're interested to know more about arts and histories.
Amazing gallery and pieces. I'm not too much of an art buff so I can't comment in detail but I love how white rabbit gallery is always evolving and changing their themes and displays. Free entry is awesome and front desk are super polite as always. Definitely worth a few visits a year. All that being said, some of the staff need to chill tf out. Once I had a drink with me which I didn't know wasn't allowed - completely fair which I'm happy to stay outside to finish it. A simple "hey no drinks allowed here" would suffice but Mr Security Guard, don't come up to me without saying anything and just start shooing me away. It's a little weird and rude. Use words next time, yeah? And just seeing how the other staff would watch some visitors like hawks even though they're still a respectable distance away from the art works, as soon as someone takes a small step forward or leans in that direction, they come up in their space and go DON'T TOUCH. Don't think the job description comes with lecture people like children, a firm reminder works just fine
Always rewarding bringing sydney a snapshot of contemporary chinese scene. Tea rooms at entrance.
An adorable little gallery that uses its spaces well. Carefully curated with interesting contemporary international art, mainly from Asia. Depending on the exhibit, it could be a short visit or a couple of hours.
Great free museum - would honestly say that level 2 with the interactive art is worth if you're in the area.
Amazing exibition. Long length que due to covid restrictions. Awesome artwork. Entry is free only. There is also a gift shop inside.
Brilliant gallery.
Will come back as I didn't get enought time to roam around the gallery.
Stunning displays but definitely no touch to any of them.
What a magical experience, phenomenal staff, have been twice in 3 days.
Drove 3hrs to get there and would do it again and again.
Great place with a load of great artwork and instagrammable moments tho the queue can get rlly long also the live electricity was bit anti-climatic
Nice exhibition of which we were only able to see half (because we were there after 4pm). Staff were a little grumpy after a seemingly long, difficult day. Will try to make it back to view the other two stars.
Very cool gallery. I went for the Lumen exhibition and it was well curated and worked well in the space. Staff were friendly and helpful.
My “go-to” place every time while visiting Sydney. Very different exhibits and real interaction, we are encouraged to touch, interacts and experience the exhibits and it was an awesome.
*always a big fans of their merchandise, my recommendation is the “Silver needle white tea” that selling at their entrance, really delicious!
Small number of installations - about 10 overall (all could be walked in 20-30 mins). I looked at reviews here it was a lot of exhibitions so my expectations were high at start,
many installations don’t have any sense - if you are not reading what it means on the wall, you will be completely lost,
too many of staff - i think gallery staff members were more than visitors. It is a bit annoying when you trying to understand the art while 10 people surveilling at you.
Great private museum full of contemporary Chinese art. One of my favourite galleries in Sydney. If you like art that lives on the edge and challenges your mind and senses then you need to visit White Rabbit Gallery.
Would give it 10 stars if I could. Judith Nielson's establishments are second to none. You can't go wrong with this one.
Didn't respect privacy and wouldn't allow entry until they saw medical exemption. People should understand that "no mask no entry" is a breach of the commonwealth act 1992!
It is a wonderful gallery. Come visit, relax over a lovely pot of tea in between browsing over incredible art works.
This is a good gallery if you’re like me and don’t like walking around looking at exhibits for hours on end. There are three levels, the first 2 have about 3 exhibits and the 3rd has just the one. The exhibits were fairly profound, conveying somewhat unanimous themes throughout, such as nationalism, neoliberalism and capitalism. I enjoyed this gallery thoroughly, it was nice being able to complete a gallery without being bored. Would recommend for all interested in going to galleries that are interesting but short and sweet.
