THIS IS NOT A HOLISTIC PERSON CENTRED HOSPITAL.

I have been trying to get in for over a month now and because my carer for cockatoo fell through so i missed my admission date yesterday, I tried to go in the following day, and was told I needed to wait 5 days as the psyc isn't available today even though my appointment was for today.

The whole admissions process is ridiculous. Kath is rude and hangs up mid sentence.

Vlad is won't return phonecalls, and hasn't followed through with agreed actions and never seems to be available.

They pick and choose patients.
There is no accountability and they don't respect privacy.

Wesley hospital Ashfield is such an amazing facility! The nurses are extremely kind, caring and supportive, the food is delicious, the doctors are great and very experienced and thorough, ALL the staff are wonderful:) there are plenty of exercise options (and exercise physiologts) art and crafts facilities, very clean, tidy and modern, a big beautiful courtyard.

There are a wide range of different health care professionals available for you to have a consultation with, including GPs, psychologists, counsellor, social worker, therapists and dietician.

It was such a positive experience and all the staff really helped me immensely through a tough time, and gave me the utmost best care and treatment. They run a fantastic program and cater to everyones needs.
I couldnt say one single bad thing about ashfield wesley hospital!

I honesty couldnt recommend this place highly enough:) thankyou to all the lovely staff at Ashfield Wesley: D

I initially placed 1 star and realised that is too harsh simply because there are some nurses and other staff members who do try and do care. The problem is the organisation of the place, the attrition rate of the facilitators is way, way beyond normal, expected numbers. The management team.or should I say individual.is unfortunately burdened with at least 2 people's workload. Until more money is spent on higher management nothing will improve. Step 2 would be to get experienced facilitators back. With the exception of a couple we feel like we are in a Uni lecture, but by one of the students.not the lecturer.
The nurses are a mixed bunch, 50% are great, go the extra yard and show genuine care. There are others who quite simply make it obvious that they don't want to be there and have little tolerance for the sick, troubled folks who are already suffering without feeling maligned by or considered a nuisance.
It is an extremely difficult job and requires specific human traits to be able to handle the often troubled personalities in here. Some in my opinion hate being there.
If the place was run as one entity as mentioned earlier that too might help it be a more functional and successful hospital. 5 yrs ago Ashfield had the best psychiatrists, doctors, programmes etc in Sydney.
Unfortunately it has lapsed badly and needs rehab itself.
Those guys in there that know me (5 stays) likely know how I feel about the members individually. And once again there are plenty of great employees there from cleaners, nurses, kitchen staff and a couple of facilitators and psych's. I don't want to take all with the same brush.
I THOUGHT I SHOULD RAISE MY INITIAL RATING OF ONE & STATE THAT THERE ARE SOME QUALITY PEOPLE AND HUMAN BEINGS WORKING THERE.

I had a dreadful experience here. A GP at the hospital - a Dr Sabina Holldack - was so nasty to me on the admissions process when I first got to the hospital I was unable to continue my admission and left! It was the first anniversary of my father's death. She berated me because I had just returned from a holiday which my mother had paid for. "What, does your mother pay off your credit card", she said angrily. She also accused me of having a gambling problem because I'd stayed at a hotel that was adjoined to a casino (I don't gamble).
There were no questions about my physical/ medical state. She then charged Medicare and my health fund for a consult!
I made a complaint about her conduct to HCC.
I don't know how Wesley Ashfield could have engaged someone so terrible. They obviously don't put patients first.

Absolutely disgusting Rehab. They dismissed a patient on his 3rd day of detox due to verbal abuse to a Dr. He was left out on the street with his belongings. Where is your duty of care? And the Nurse in charge is a piece of work. Will definitely be taking our case further.

If I could rate it less i would. They treated me like a number and fed me pills instead of actually listening and helping me.

If you actually want to get better DO NOT come to this place. I won't be specific incase this gets deleted but there is a place in curl curl you should look up if you are actually keen on working out why you started your addiction and how you can move past it in the future.

Although Hay is a professor in eating disorder, she is heartless, careless, and uncompassionate. Your daughter will never fully recover by going to that hospital. DO NOT WASTE YOUR PRESIOUS TIME!

The hospital, I’m sure is fine. A consultant psychiatrist Professor Phillipa Hay is not fine. After months of persuasion, my daughter agreed to a consult with Hay. The booking was made but Hay was nowhere to be found. Still waiting for an apology for wasting my daughter and wife’s time.

This review will remain until we receive an apology from Hay.

I am reporting this hospital to the health minister. My daughter is unwell this hospital gave me the run around for one week They then spoke to my daughter that was late Tuesday night filled us with hope The next morning that uneducated woman Robyn rung me + in her so PROFESSIONAL opinion she told me "Your daughter is too scatty for us to take her" What the hell does that mean? This supposedly professional tells me she's too scatty? ? ? ! ! Bloody disgrace I had assumed that a private hospital that we pay a lot of money for would take my daughter because she's unwell not scatty I will be contacting the health minister disgusted Diame Mancuso
