Waverley Woollahra Art School reviews
15Most enjoyable class …Drawing with Expression…friendly atmosphere and Aliki - thank you for showing first by example and then individually guiding us to see how to approach our effort in class and giving such attention to bring out our individual style and approach with different mediums…. And for me opening my eyes to seeing my sketches in a different perspective at how to keep improving or changing something…️Nadia.
Beautiful building and rooms for things arty. Wife really enjoys (Catherine's) ceramic courses.
Thankyou Amanda Doctor for your most enjoyable Watercolour Workshop- Turning Holiday pictures into W/Colour Paintings. I learnt much in a relaxed but instructive atmosphere. You gave me confidence to return to painting. I appreciated the small class. Thank you. Jan
The school is fantastic. Great class held by Robert. Super knowledgeable and extremely friendly.
It was the Woollahra Waverley art school where I began to learn to paint and to draw. Because of the good grounding I had here, I was able to go to the National Art School. I have come back here to learn more skills. Woollahra Waverley has the best teachers.
Mixed media is a magical mystery tour that takes you to places that you could never have imagined, even in your wildest dreams! I have been practising mixed media at Waverley Woolhara Art School (WWAS) for nearly a decade. I need a group experience as solitary art practice can be too inwards turning. For me, mixed media has been a source of artistic renewal and growth, all in a friendly and supportive environment.
This is a great way to get into drawing and stay there.
Phillipa has so much knowledge and enthusiasm for everyone in the class.
She provides the basic but also the heart and joy that are why we make art.
20 years ago, after migrating to Aus from SAfrica, I signed up for Ceramics classes at WWAS. My transition to a new country was made easier by being welcomed by my tutors and the diverse community of my fellow learners. Since then, I have grown to love the school, watched many come and go. I love my sessions and the space and freedom I am given to be myself and develop my art. Thx to all for the privilege of being able to work and grow into a Ceramic artist.
I have started taking beginner oil painting classes with Kevin McKay in 2022.
Every class is buit on working through a foundational topic. We first get a theoretical explanation, often accompanied with helpful handouts, then we do painting exercises that help us understand the topic better and to fix misconceptions. Kevin also uses examples of well-known artworks to demonstrate how artists use these basic ideas and techniques in their paintings.
Kevin is a highly accomplished artist, and he is very generous and patient answering questions about the whole creative process, and how art is actually made. Also the class has a very nice atmosphere, relaxed and very friendly. I always look forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday nights.
Amanda is a great teacher, shows by example but also leaves space for individual experimentation and learning.
The skateboarding class was very good and I'd like to come back for another class. Luca was great.thank you, Sebastian
Our kids have joined a number of programs with Yaeli and WWAS and they have all been outstanding sessions. The teaching has been amazing - with the sessions thoughtfully put together, as well as being entertaining the kids learnt heaps - Thanks!
Neve absolutely loved her first experience with pottery classes on her school holiday. We will be doing painting next week. Definitely we will be back, especially it’s around the corner from our home.
Going for more than 50 years, this community run art school is a cooperative of artists and students. It has a wide range of courses in the fine arts at reasonable prices.
Ladies were very helpful when making our booking. On arrival greeted us with big smiles and very friendly. My child enjoyed the Art lessons. Thankyou will be back.
