Didn't meet anyone, but a lifesaver if you're on a ride or hike - toilets and water (if there's been rain). Be considerate. Also, this is the point where the nicely maintained gravel road leading up from the south turns into the old great north road/convict trail, which is in shocking condition.

Beautiful forest setting and great atmosphere thanks to both the monks and the lay persons staying there. Everyone I met there radiates peace and kindness.
This is a rather rustic forest monastery, it is a 15-km ride on a dirt road from after crossing the river at Wisemans Ferry and the dirt road after the gate is in good condition. Make sure to follow their instructions when navigating in order to take the right road and get the code for the lock on the gate to the dirt road. If you’re after a more advanced monastery that is easily accessible you probably should better look elsewhere. Phone reception is poor and only with Telstra and Optus in some spots. In my eyes, it is a forest monastery as it should be and it is so good to be away from the rush.

Truly how a Buddhist monastery should be. A place of kindness, compassion, peace and tranquillity.

These guys are awesome. They provide water to thirsty hikers and cyclists! Never stayed here though.

The must place to visit for all Buddhists in Sydney. The temple is very quiet and surrounding by jungle. Good start for living by making merit, meditation and dhamma. Highly recommended.
