Victoria & Albert Guesthouse reviews
69 I highly recommend this Guesthouse. You can really notice when owners of a business care and Shane and Michael are passionate about ensuring that you have a rememberable experience. This starts with a warm welcome, then the charming Victorian building filled with a growing.collection of impressive antiques and even a display of local birdlife next to the breakfast room which Dennis, the chef, delights in feeding daily. Make sure that you treat yourself to a sumptuous dinner in the impressive main dining room.
A much better option to an Airbnb!
We went to Mt Victoria for a friend’s birthday weekend. We arrived fairly late on Friday night to be welcomed by Derek, who instantly made us feel welcome. Over the weekend we got to hear more of the history of the hotel, including its time as a hospital in WWII, and the surrounding area (as the end of the train line before socialites took coaches down to Jenolan Caves. They are renovating the rooms over time. We had a newly renovated one which was gorgeous. We had lovely meals, sat on the balcony in the late afternoon, and generally just felt at home. In large part due to Jack of all trades Derek and manager Josie. It was too hot to go walking much that weekend, so we’ll come back to explore more of the beautiful area.
Every member of Victoria and Albert staff makes us feel like part of their family. It was a birthday to remember! ️
Great food in an ornate setting. Beautiful and cosy by the fire on a misty cold day. Thank you
Nice old building but quite run down. Extremely uncomfortable bed. Breakfast in the morning was simple but nice.
I live locally and love going here for a good meal! Great staff, good food, lovely atmosphere.
Recently under new management V&A Guesthouse has had a lot of love put into it - by restoring the heritage bones and refreshing the fit out makes this a lovely place to stay. The staff are also caring, detail orientated and accomodating.
The Victoria and Albert is one of the most stunning 'Grand Dames' in the Blue Mountains. We are very lucky to have such a fabulous establishment in our beautiful, historic village of Mount Victoria. The new Catherine Martin wallpapers, decor, Derek the chef and wonderful Josie at the front make this a lovely experience.
Victoria and Albert Restaurant is a delightful experience. The guesthouse has been lovingly restored. Mount Victoria is lucky to have this beautiful historic building available for guests and locals to enjoy fine dining with family and friends - thank you
Two friends and I spent this weekend at Victoria and Albert ghuesrhouse and had a fabulous time.from Friday evening till Sunday morning josie the manager, the chef Derek, the owner and wait staff could not have been more helpful and kind.although a very busy weekend with a full house, the team went out of their way to help with local info on walks, places to visit and generally made us welcome. Derek's cooking and menu was first class value for money, fresh and beautifully presented.rooms were comfortable and facilities clean and in the process of being restored.had a fabulous time and recommend to others.cheers Sue, maria and reena.
Had 2 nights stay with family during school holidays.
This gorgeous building is over 100 yrs old and took us on a step back in time. Our room was cosy and equipped with a small sitting room. Looking through window in the morning, there were more than ten lorikeets in garden. The complimentary continental breakfast was delicious!
If you prefer modern style, this is not the place to stay because it is a guesthouse. There is a guest cockatoo lounge in the middle of hallway. All guests on the same floor shared a kettle, free coffee and tea, a fridge and a microwave. Next door is the TV room. Kids felt boring (no TV in room) and inconvenience (watching TV with random people). The light was so dim in TV room, game room and our room. I had to move all table lamps to the sitting room to be able to read book during night.
Great hospitality & charm. A real country guest house. Staying for the third time with my kids. Will return to see updates by the new owner's Shane and Michael. Best of luck reviving V&A!
My family treated me to a weekend at this magnificent, grand residence for my Birthday. Josie the Manager was the best host. Nothing was too much trouble. Derek the Chef, cooked magnificent food and is a fantastic character. So refreshing to have such authentic humans who make your stay at Albert Victoria a memorable experience. Rooms great, beds super comfortable. The ambience is exquisite.
Will be returning for sure.
5 star service. 5 star food. Great location. Warm and family friendly atmosphere. Cozy and comfortable communal spaces. Easy parking out back. Honestly I've never stayed at a place with so much charm, character and personality. A very unique and memorable vacation with my daughter. Loved the place.
The rooms are nothing special and our bathroom wasn't part of our room. But that didn't take away from how great our stay was!
Smack bang in between Lithgow and Katoomba, the historical guest house is a restful haven that delivers friendly, countryside hospitality unique to the Blue Mountains. Upon arriving, it can be difficult to locate the entrance and car park at night as there are very little lights to illuminate the way in. But once you make it onto the gravel and stroll inside, you are welcomed in by the helpful locals who run the magnificent, well-maintained hotel. A wonderful asset they have is the colossal size of the place, the rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable. Perhaps this is why you'll find a lot of antiques in your room to fill in the negative space. Personally, the old-fashioned decorations feels like clutter but it is minimal compared to the rest of the room. Everything is neatly kept with clean bathrooms and plenty of storage. However, its rustic charm overrides the standard facilities found in modern hotels. There is no private minifridge, kettle or microwave, they are accessed through the common kitchen shared by all hotel patrons. There is also no room service so you'll find the beds still in its morning crumple when you return to the room. Despite these inconveniences, the guest house provides warmth to withstand the Mountains' blistering cold with heaters and heated mattresses that will have you snug in the covers. Our room came with an extra bonus of a windows overlooking the courtyard where lovely Australian king parrots and kookaburras peacefully hang around, an exceptional view you should not pass up on. For indoor activities, you can relax in the main lounge to watch the only television in the place or explore the courtyard. But most importantly is the complimentary breakfast with the choice of traditional English or continental. We had the continental on all occasions as the English breakfast is simply toast with spread. The first time round, the breakfast was freshly cooked with creamy poached eggs and scrumptious sautéed mushrooms though the spinach was seasoned with too much salt. The quality then dipped on our second time, the poached eggs were precooked and resulted in a sour taste. Dinner was available at the hotel restaurant but the exorbitant prices turned us off. In spite of the inconsistent food at breakfast and other specifications, the guesthouse is a Mount Victoria landmark with an air of serenity and homeliness that can't be captured with just a whiff or a simple review! Please do take it all in at your next stay in Victoria and Albert Guesthouse.
Warm and cosy just what you need in the mountians. Great service and the building has such a rich history. Breakfast was awesome and had a good coffee.
What a wonderful place. Excellent breakfast and great Restaurant. Comfortable accommodation with excellent, friendly and helpful staff. Definitely make you feel at home.
A place with warmth. Hospitable owner Wayne and his chef Derik. Lovely breakfast and very comfortable room. We slept like babies in such a comfy bed. Lots of places to sit around and chat.
Such a lovely stay! We were greeted by Derek straight after we parked and he gave us a great tour of the accommodation. The hospitality of all of the staff was outstanding.
The gorgeous building took us on a step back in time. The guesthouse is cosy and quaint.
The complimentary breakfast was delicious! And they were able to cater for vegetarians.
Can't fault the old world charm & service of this place. Jack & I loved it and we're definitely coming back soon for a longer stay.
