Ultrasound Care Randwick is never at fault and only want your money.

I recently booked my morphology scan with Ultrasound Care Randwick as I had a good experience with them for my 12 week scan.

My morphology scan was conducted and everything was fine until I received my report that was contradictory to what I had been told in the ultrasound room. I contacted Ultrasound Care Randwick to discuss this, as it was flagged by my private midwife and I explained to my midwife what had happened, to which we agreed we would just get the report amended. I emailed Ultrasound Care Randwick to get clarification on my concerns and was advised that I was correct, and the findings were reported incorrectly with the scan imagery. The fault on the report was the fault of Ultrasound Care Randwick, however no accountability was taken. Instead I was told although supporting evidence was clearly there to have the report changed, I would have to have a rescan, which would have to be paid for by me, even though they were at fault. They held no accountability for the fault, instead insisting that because I was having a home birth and "home births are expensive so what's another $400" when I explained how I was confused as to why I had to pay for their mistake. Being a defence member, they also explained "I'm sure defence will pay for this if you ask them for a referral" (not the point!)

I will not be returning to them for another scan and will instead take my money and the care of my body and my baby elsewhere. In the end, they did not admit any fault and the lady I spoke to was extremely rude and not understanding at all.

Save your money and your peace of mind and go elsewhere.

Love absolutely everything about Ultrasound care Randwick. I went to them for all of my ultrasounds for both of my children (going back 11 years ago!) and still visit for routine checks. The quality of care from reception to results is a testament to each of the team members, and to the service they provide.
The ambience is Very clean and a calm space overall. Staff are respectful and kind and accomodating.
A huge shout out to Dr Lynn, Rebecca, Candice and my Laura, who held my hand through both of my pregnancies, you will always hold a sweet little spot in my heart. Keep shinning as brightly as you do

Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Practice was very clean and their instructions prior to the appointment were communicated very well. I was in and out within 10 minutes!

I had a horrible experience at this clinic. The first issue was my NIPT test. They initially didn’t disclose the gender when I had requested to find out. They were apologetic but then sent me someone else’s report! I spent an hour digesting the information and gender before I realised it was not mine! They were mortified and told me to delete it. Eventually they sent me the correct report with a different gender! It was a whirlwind day of emotions and could have been a much nicer experience of finding out what we were having!

My second issue was much more traumatic. I went in for my early structural scan a week later and the sonographer was having trouble getting all the images she needed of the heart. She eventually called in the obstetrician and they looked together. I had to listen to them talking about “abnormalities” and they turned the machine off to then tell me that they needed to refer me to a fetal cardiologist as they believed baby had a significant heart defect and talked about potential chromosomal problems. The obstetrician then took me to her room, drew me a horrible diagram and offered me genetic counselling. She also walked me to reception to book in an amniocentesis soon after our second specialist scan. The specialist scan ended up being a full week away. It was the worst week of my life, I had little hope based on our conversations that day. I didn’t sleep much and still had to parent my two other kids. Eventually we were seen by the most lovely cardiologist. Two images in and he could already tell everything was normal. He spent another 40min doing a detailed scan as the letter from the doctor was so confident and indicated a rare defect of the aorta. We were reassured nothing was wrong and everything was very healthy. He said he got a lot of early pregnancy referrals from the clinic. I got a voice message from the obstetrician later that day telling me how thrilled she was at my news and whether I still wanted the second scan (for $580). There is no way I am going back there for my 20 week scan!

The specialists ans Doctors are great at what they do and treat you nicely! However, the recepcionist is not efficient and rude. Had a Mirena removal with ultrasound booked, and no one told me I needed to have a full bladder for it - so I had to stay over an hour drawning myself in water to have the procedure done. When the receptionist came to ask me if I was drinking a lot of water I mentioned "i wasnt told I needed this when I booked the appointment" she said it was needed for every scan and asked again about the water and I said "i just think its something you guys need to pay attention to and tell people as its not our obligation to know this" to which she responded " you already said that, but thats not what i asked you"
RUDE! Im giving her feedback and she acts as if they didnt do anything. Terrbible professional! But considering this is not the first bad review for reception there, guess you dont really need to be a good one for what they need.
Respect for the pacients and the specialists who need to keep calling us in and checking our bladder cause they disnt do their job.

I specifically booked my 20 week appointment at Randwick since I’d had such a good experience at my 13 week scan, and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately the two experiences couldn’t have been more different.
After filling out a covid form at reception that asked questions about overseas travel etc I went into the scan room with the sonographer. She made small talk which ended up in me telling her I’d returned from overseas just over a week ago. She immediately said she couldn’t scan me since I was not allowed in a healthcare facility within 10 days of travel. She marched me straight to reception and, unable to find an alternative appointment within the required timeframe for a 20 week scan kicked me out.
Obviously upset, I was a bit annoyed they hadn’t mentioned this rule over the phone on booking. I called everywhere in Sydney trying to find an appointment between 20-22 weeks but everywhere was full with such short notice. I eventually found an appointment in Wollongong.
Once I’d calmed down I remembered a text I’d received from Services NSW on arrival into Sydney which said you cannot go into a healthcare facility within 7 days. Then I also realised the form I'd signed at reception had said 7 days. On top of this I found a confirmation text sent by ultrasound care plus a page on their website stating 7 days.
I went back to Ultrasound Care to understand why I had been kicked out without the rules being checked.
The receptionist was friendly but said even though the form on reception said 7 days I’d probably signed a form that said 10 days. I asked her to show me the form I’d signed which did say 7 days. She was apologetic and admitted their mistake.
The sonographer on the other hand… refused to look at the text I’d received from services NSW saying I didn’t know what I was talking about. She then disappeared into a back office to try and find the rule that said 10 days. She couldn’t find anything so called her manager. The receptionist overheard the conversation and said it did sound like it was 7 days and they were wrong. Finally expecting an apology from the sonographer, I was shocked when she came out of the office and double downed on the rule, now telling me the health NSW rule was actually 14 days, the clinic was working off 10, but since I’d signed a form in reception that incorrectly said 7 days she would honour it. SO now the sonographer is showing a willingness to disregard NSW health advice. She offered no apology and rolled her eyes when I tried to speak.
I cannot believe a place providing a service for pregnant people would behave like this. This sonographer would rather let my baby go unchecked than admit she had made a mistake.
As far as I’m concerned a person like this should not be allowed anywhere near an unborn baby, let alone dealing with people in a health care setting.

I have had 3 scans at Ultrasound care and their service was always friendly and efficient. For my 20 week scan my husband was unable to attend and the sonographer, Jade was wonderful. She was kind, patient, explained what she was doing and why and carried on friendly conversation to set me at ease. I was very impressed with her skills, manner and professionalism. I also love the homey feel of the clinic but it may be more expensive than others near by.

The technician, doctor and the nurses were super friendly and professional but I had a horrendous experience with a receptionist. Rude and arrogant for no particular reason. Such a pity that the frontline staff ruined the image of clinic.

Receptionist was rude for no particular reason. No one told me to drink water before going to the practice, (as receptionist was only concerned about the fees not explaining what patients need to do). Then more importantly technician (who did NOT introduce herself) was very aggressive and rude - I had so much pain as I did't drink water before the ultrasound, she didn't let me ask any question or explain what I was asking. She was extremely rude. I am so sorry for such practice to hire people like this technician. This technician was working with Dr Linda Atkins (same day). I will not recommend this practice to anyone except if it is with Dr Lynn Townsend and her technician (who were really polite).

Also note that when I passed my feedback, practice manager did not apparently consider it (or even did not simply apologize) so on top of everything (poor service and support of patients), they have poor customer service.

Excellent ultrasound clinic. Previously I went to another imagining centre which missed an 8cm dermoid on my ovary!
This clinic is personalised and very thorough, the staff are absolutely wonderful. I saw Dr Lynn Townsend and my Sonographer was Laura, they were both delightfully lovely and made me feel very relaxed with the procedure and well looked after, they explained everything throughout the whole process. I could not be happier with their service. Thank you.

Ultrasound Care Randwick is great! Excellent thorough report & scan and nothing beats the kindness & smile of Dr Lynn Townsend. I felt very comfortable. I'd defiantly return for my future ultrasounds, professional highly recommended. Aleen K
