Tweed Heads Historic Site reviews
13 Worth a look. Lovely easy grade short walk through the last patch of bush in Tweed. A variety of plant communities AND one of the few remaining bora rings on the coast, near the Minjungbal Aboriginal Museum.
(But dogs prohibited as its a Nature Reserve). Pity about Crown Lands ripping out the "Walk on Water" boardwalk through the mangroves.hopefully they'll rebuild it soon
As I am new to the area I was very interested to learn about local aboriginal history and culture. A worthwhile place to visit.
Such a beautiful environment on sacred indigenous ground.thank you for sharing this place with everyone ️
Drop in here every few years: always hopeful but. In desperate need of government funding. Museum needs curating and updating. (Signs had fallen onto floor, text felt out of date). Mangrove track in disrepair. Signposting, lighting and better info signs needed. An important site needing attention.
Walked through here on humid raining day. Overrun by mosquitoes. Would be lovely on another day
Didn't realise, this beautiful place was so close by, great for families to walk through, and learn about indigenous ceremonies, and celebrate their culture
Beautiful and sacred. What a lovely walk. It was Sunday so the museum wasn't open but we will be back when it is. The path is well maintained and there are hundreds of butterflies. It was quiet and we listened to the bird life and the water lapping the path. Very special. Had a peaceful time.
Each time I have gone on the board walk to the end there is always a guy who looks as though he is camped on it, which stops you from going right to the end. Could the people who run it please move them on. It should be available for all to enjoy.
Beautiful walking path through bush and a boardwalk through mangroves.
Information plaques along the walk.
Peaceful place.
Very nice walk, and the museum gives a good amount of info but is a little high on the price for a one room museum. So all by all, i would recomment going here and see for yourself if you would spend the money on the museum
Free walk in a rainforest in tweed city 15$ to see the museum not worth it but the walk was lovely just bring repent for the mosquitoes
It is a must see if you care to learn a bit about Australia's indigenous history. Make sure you visit the small museum for $7.50 before the free walk. Mossies are in abundance there and are in full attack mode. Make sure that you cover yourself in repellent it is a must. They will carry you away.
Gorgeous walk through the scrub and mangroves with educational info boards about the native flora and fauna. Great place for fishing and crabbing. Bring mosquito repellant!
Highly recommended.
