Tunks Park Playground reviews
17Great park. Average parking. Enjoyed meeting family at kids playground. Not a full-on playground. By the water is great.
Been going every morning for years to walk our dogs. Beautiful park and so well maintained by groundskeeper Bernie. I would have given it 5 stars but I was horrified this morning when I discovered the contractors who clean the bathrooms there rinsing a toilet brush out in the hand basin. I called him out on it and he tried to tell me " no no I scub wall here" Ah no you didn't I saw what you did with my own eyes. Will be notifying North Sydney Council
Half the kids playground is fenced off. Swings and diggers still available. But just down the hill there's a walk with lots of rock formations for kids and adults to explore. Look in the carpark for the cafe sign and the coffee cart
Overall, this playground is plenty of fun for the kids (ages 1-8), albeit the swings are for pretty small kids and some of the equipment is showing signs of solid aging and other damage.
While the playground may be considered “fenced”, parents should be warned that is a very generous definition - if you are worried about that sort of thing.
Kids always escape down the hill to the oval - so be prepared for that.
And the bathrooms are a fair hike. So the “I really need to go” refrain is even less welcome here.
Beautiful recreation area, scenery includes waterfront, river path with stone crossings, semi tropical vegetation, and historic sites. Highly recommend!
Beautiful big park for dogs to run around, a good bike track and also a nice bush waking circuit. Free parking but can be tough to get a good spot in peak times so you may need to park up the hill and walk down. Public toilets and lots of water fountains for filling up drink bottles and giving your pup a drink too. Great spot.
Always love going there, but the lack of parking, especially when there's sports events on, is painful. The dog poo (it's got a dog exercise area) on the slope between the play equipment and dog exercise area is a downer. Eight piles of it.:/
Beautiful part of the world, great for dogs of all sizes and wonderful for kids too. Not a lot of parking and gets busy when there is sport on or on warm weekends when people with boats come. Great place to meet the locals too.
Lovely location
Great for kids (playground & lots of room to run), dog walkers, boating
Toilets & a cool coffee vendor
Fields kept in good condition. Beware of epic parking problems here on weekends due to sport. Local convention is to drive down via the southern road and exit via the northern road. If you go the other way it is likely to take a long time and cause traffic jams.
Saturday sports parking an absolute nightmare! What a disgrace for the local residents, sports participants- everybody really. If there isn't enough parking for all the teams Council have allowed to play there, build a bigger parking area or reduce the amount of teams there at one time. Council were also down there booking cars.
Very nice playground. It's not fenced but it has lots of staff for both younger and older kids.
Excellent for off-lead dog walking away from traffic. Overall, very friendly people and lots of dogs around, handy toilet block and beautiful scenery.
The best park playground I have been till now. The creek after the park makes me feel as if I am in some rainforest. Can't beleive this gem is in the heart of Sydney.
Beautiful park. Great little spot amongst the trees. Never realised this is what's under the bridge. Lush green fields, there's a tap to grab water for you and the dog. Seems a fair amount of parking down near the water, though I expect fills up quickly between boats launching and sporting game days. Can also park along the upper streets and walk down the paths to access the fields. Worth noting if editing fields on North Sydney side of the bridge, you can't turn right to head to Northbridge.
The footpath through the park is wide but fills with large puddles of water after rain which is a bit annoying and defeats it's purpose as you're forced to walk onto the wet grass.
Key for parents: There was a guy with a little coffee cart in the carpark, does toasties as well, very handy pre-game I expect!
A well decked out playground with swings (including wheelchair friendly ones), slides and lots of roped webs to climb. There is virtually no sun protection though which rules it out for most days unfortunately. But if you have an overcast day or fancy a late-in-the-day play then bundle the tribe into the car and head over.
