Tomaree Head Summit walk reviews
64This is a short but super steep walk. There is a clear path that is purposely built and the view from the top is simply breathtaking. Highly recommend
Run down old exhospital spoils an otherwise beautiful place. Security cameras and warning everywhere about what, mm some junk that should be pulled down and removed. If this was someones house I bet council would be knocking on the door to have it demolished.ex military well they should pay to have it removed.
Managed the climb after multiple surgeries. Part of the healing process at 69 years of age
Very steep, 1.5 hours with 2 kids and 2 adults. Take water. It's beautiful and worth it the walk.
Good walk although steadily uphill. Path very well maintained, maybe 6 sets of steps on the way.
Beautiful place for a casual stroll or a good workout run. They just re did the stairs so lots of room and safety. Hard to beat the views.
Nice hiking trail in Nelson's Bay. If you're visiting the area, this is definitely a must do. Wear comfy shoes and clothes. Half the track is on flat pavement and then stairs.
One of the best hikes and climbs I’ve ever done, once reached the summit you will be rewarded with some amazing views that you will never forget in your lifetime, don’t trust the photo, go see it for yourself. The views are 10000 times better than the photos.
Great walk to the top - little frightening near the summit as you reach some of the stairs (for those afraid of heights!)
Great walk with amazing views at the top. Flat shoes recommended. Generally takes a person of average fitness between 15-30 minutes to walk up. There are places to stop along the way - go at your own pace.
Beautiful place small hike.kids friendly, my daughter climbed this hill when she was year 5.metal stairs.when you reach top the hill it's so beautiful.especially sun set.
This is a Grade 5 walk! Probably this is the best lookout in whole NSW. Make sure to take water with you. Once you reached at the top - you will forget the pain. Worth the tough walk! Highly recommended!

We were told the hike should take about 25 minutes to reach the Summit, by a local
We took a detour to visit the WW2 Gun Emplacements area, but to our disappointment, there was nothing there to see, not even a replica
The walk, the climb, the sweat, and the awesome views, to reach the Summit was an amazing experience
If you're in Port Stephens/Nelson Bay, it is a must try, but don't bother taking the route to the Gun Emplacements area, unless you don't mind doing the extra walks
This walk starts with flat inclining walk then turns to lots of stairs, can be made of either steel or rocks. View is stunning. Need to be very careful on rainy days as the track can be extremely slippery.
Easy walk for about 20 minutes with my friends and family. Super great view on the summit! One of the best sea views in Australia. Like two seas separated left and right. Just like cape Town in south Africa. If you are traveling at Nelson Bay, this is a must place. Btw, better come early in the morning for easy parking.
The hike up there is steep but the views at the top r really worth it. For all those concerned about older ppl being able to do the hike, I would suggest not to burden them.it does require lot of leg work both ways.not good for older joints. Tip, run downwards instead of trying to walk down since it's steep n ul face less resistance. Can bet it would be really slippery when raining or has rained. Beware of small branches on track as well since u can easily slip. There's a 1 sided handrail though. If u r medium fit, can easily do 1 way in 30 min upwards else 15min.downwards is then much lesser.
A short but steep walk up, much quicker coming down. While steep its easily doable for a reasonably fit person (I'm in my sixties) with a few rest spots along the way and well maintained trail. The views from the top are certainly worth it, up there with the best in Australia. Highly recommended if in Port Stephens!
Steep yet rewarding climb. Do try taking the offbeat path for a bit more adventure. The views from the top are so worth the steep hike
The path/track is a combination of paved pathway, steel steeps & walkways and bush rock steps. Lots of grab rails & rest stops along the way. Spectacular 360 deg views from the top. Not sure why Nat Parks have this as Grade 5. Grand Hightops in the Warrenbungles is a 4.
Wow. It was a bit of an inclined walk to get to the top but it was definitely worth it. The view was breath-taking. Some people were wearing flipflops and kids were walking up to the top by themselves. I'ld still recommend proper shoes. Saw a man do rounds walking up and down the track for exercise. I can imagine doing this track on a daily basis.
