The Sydney Private Hospital reviews
32Friendly staff but their wifi doesn’t work which means you can’t keep loved ones informed of recovery status through messenger - when I enquired was told nobody has been able to access it - then they got on with other things
Poor experience, nurses did not speak English. My mother ended up in emergency 12 hours after being discharged and nearly died due to the medication given without the doctors orders.
The staff there are so caring and understanding It’s my dads second time there. I would highly recommend
EDIT: Emailed my complaint 3 weeks ago, was told "someone will contact you soon". Nothing.
This place is beyond appalling, from reception to the Executive panel. No patient care, no professionalism, definately no honesty. I was booked in, the hosp didn't do my private health check until after I was operated on, the hosp used the wrong info & told me I wasn't covered after being in my room, recovering, for 5 days! (which could not be more wrong) some women who claimed she was on the Executive panel then came in my room & kicked me out without rehab, because accordingding to her I wasn't covered,
following a major 8hr surgery. Gross misconduct.
The hospital has a beautiful surroundings, very nice place. I don’t want to write anything negative because I am afraid that this may affect the quality of services I am getting here.
I am at present at the rehabilitation centre after my decompression Laminectomy at st. George private on the 27th March 23.
I was transferred here on the 5/6 April to a room in a very poor condition with a shared bathroom, it was very unhygienic, not to mention I had to urinate in my paints because the bathroom was engaged. However I was moved to a much better room on the 7th after I complained.
I have to chase the uncooperative nursing staff (except a few) for every thing.
I’m told that the bedsheets are changed only when they are dirty, we have no sealed water bottles and that they can refill with tap water etc.etc.
I assure you that I have been very polite in my approach.
The doctors and the physiotherapists are very cooperative and I am sure I will go with full recovery and a good impression of this place. My
I’m at the Sydney Private Hospital now, recovering from knee replacement. My surgical stocking (essential for weeks after surgery) has not been replaced for two days. I have been promised a replacement several times. Nothing happens. Physiotherapy is excellent. As with most hospitals, the food is vile
Rehab doesn’t get worse. And please don’t tell me to contact you to discuss. Read any other 1* review here and you’ll get the drift.
During my time with the Hospital as a patient and as a day Rehabilitation patient, I have had only the highest of professional care and best practice shown towards me during my stay in hospital from the 27th July 2022 and with the day Rehabilitation Unit from the 15th August to the 07th November 2022.
The Staff were always friendly, thoughtful and put my concerns first,
making me feel comfortable during my treatment at the Hospital.
Thank you to all who helped me on my way back to good health again.
I have tried to visit my Mum who was transferred there for rehab. She was transferred there to be closer to me so I can visit. I wasn’t able to even get past reception as apparently children aren’t allowed. I have a 3 year old and no one to mind her. What am I supposed to do? Not visit my Mum for weeks? There is nothing about this policy on their website. My daughter was even wearing a mask. It’s ridiculous. If you’re not allowing visitors at least have the decency to let people know in advance.
10 days and not a single cleaner around - absolutely filthy. When I talked to the nursing staff, they didn’t care as it’s contracted out.
I have had recent dealings with Sydney Private Hospital. I am writing to air my views on which my mother was treated. My mother was 96 year old admitted to this hospital on the 1/2/22 after a fall she had. With the exception of a small few the nursing staff treated my mother in a nonemapathic way, she said they were rough when they were moving her around which caused her pain as she has severe osteo arthritis. She also asked them to make her a cup of soup which was provided by me, nurses refused to make it for her. She has now left that hospital with three pressure sores as they did not move my mother during her stay or do anything to prevent them. On several occasions I tried to ask to speak with someone regarding her condition and plan they had for her and after about 5 weeks I got to speak to the Dr who was looking after her. Overall very disappointed with the treatment my mother received and for the lack of contact to me regarding her condition.
Rude staff kicked me out as I wanted to wait for someone’s surgery to be over but was told I can’t
Staff were so friendly and helpful, special thank you to Jerbert, Nilam and the lovely night nurse who I unfortunately have forgotten her name now.
Had a tonsillectomy here in October and the service was absolutely perfect. The nurses were always on call and ready for some quick relief for pain and other discomforts. The room was also very comfortable and super clean. This was an amazing experience for such a painful procedure.
I have found the level of caring and professionalism in all area’s of This Hospital to be outstanding I would recommend this facility to anyone in a heartbeat
Had my knee replacement surgery done at this hospital found the nursing staff on level 4 very friendly and helpful. After surgery had my rehab done there for 2 months twice a week the rehab staff were also very friendly and highly trained. They did a excellent job on my knee and got me walking in quick recovery time. Big thank you to all rehab staff.
Great care. Great surgical and anaesthetic care for my 4 year old child. Caring and supportive nursing staff.
My elderly mother recently spent nine days as an in house patient at SPH, recovering from a fractured leg. It was an extremely distressing experience for her. Firstly, I wish to point out that as a non-member of a private health fund, my mother had to pay over $1000 per day out of her savings for this bad experience, definitely not value for money!
Issues included:
• Being left sitting on the toilet for up to 30 minutes at a time
• Not receiving any physio on three of the nine days
• Some rehab sessions were less than 15 minutes
• Non-compliance to our clear and repeated request in the first few days for a soft diet – the staff’s response to my mother when this was pointed out to them was to ‘eat the bread’
• The food was an extremely low quality
On several occasions different staff members reiterated that they were short staffed. When one pays $1000 per day, THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
I hope my mother never has to go to rehab again, but if she does I will certainly not be admitting her to Sydney Private Hospital.
I have been here for close to a month and
can't fault the caring and compassionate staff.
Nothing is a problem and the rooms are spotless. The meals however let the rest of the hospital down. I understand steps are in place to restore the dining experience to its former glory.
Thanks to all on level 2 and phisio staff.
Special thanks to Dr Ly and the nurses too many to mention. Nurse Jay is one crazy and caring dude.
Great hospital with exceptional staff!
The reception ladies are extremely helpful. I would definitely recommend this hospital to all my friends and family.
