Mid at best. Booked a room for 3 people given 2 cups, 2 towels and not enough pillows. Asked for more pillows. Hard as a rock. After struggling to sleep I called reception and they advised me they would bring another pillow. They never did. For a 5 star hotel I was disappointed to say the least. At least the pool was nice

Reception staff are extremely friendly and helpful, exactly as you would expect. Despite being above a very busy casino in a busy part of town, the Star Grand is very quiet and peaceful. It forms a perfect home base for anyone working in the Pyrmont area with plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, both casual and fine dining. The walk down to the bay only takes a few minutes and if you don't have a room with a view, you still won't miss out.

The rooms are tidy and beds are extremely comfortable - though some things were slightly disappointed. The water pressure is pretty low which doesn't make for a nice shower and the towels and robes were on the scratchy side which takes from the luxury as well. Some wear and tear is showing in some areas of the room - hot and cold taps the wrong way around, scratched bath and some cracked tiles. Despite this, the cleanliness is great and the amenities are fantastic.

Overall a very pleasant stay and I wouldn't hesitate to come back.

Fantastic location. Spacious, well appointed. Well connected, close by eateries. Lounge room couch was rock hard. Check in process needs to improve.

Note: we have stayed here multiple times in the past and enjoyed our stay however we would never return again.

Booked a three bed suite for a special occasion and was given incorrect rooms, they were at a capacity so could not resolve. We waited over two hours for one cocktail at the rooftop bar and were served warm seafood we had to send back, one of our guests ended up very sick who ate some. The spa was nice. The room was disgusting, very run down, dirty sofa, cigarette holes and in total we found 6 cockroaches, one on our bed, we had to sleep with towels stuffed under our doors. The rooms had no toiletries and towels we had to request 6 times and in the end go down to reception. Was offered a 50% refund after showing the cockroaches all over our room yet they charged the full amount and now continue to ignore our email complaints and phone calls.

Staying in 2 bdrm apartment. Nice finishes but no cooking facilities or microwave. Only refrigerated drawer, no fridge. Difficult to raise housekeeping. Had to ring concierge. Asked for 3 new bath towels only brought 2. No kitchen sink plug or tea towel but small dish liquid tube. Clean room but pillowcase marked. Housekeeping came after first night so that was a bonus.

The 5 star hotel room deserves the windows to be cleaned. Also the room was dark.
The hotel didn't lack of people you wouldn't like to meet on the street, the usual visitors of the casino I believe

Two bedroom suite is showing its age and needs a revamp, starting with the TV as the casting software was completely useless on android phones. Got three sets of towels but only two shampoo kits and coffee pods, I thought attention to detail could've been better considering the market price is well over $800 on weeknights. We were also charged for items in the mini bar which we did not consume, thankfully the dispute was handled quickly over telephone. Overall mediocre room and sloppy services that leave much to be desired.

From the moment I checked in at The Star, I was treated not as a guest, but like extended family, something seldom seen by hotels these days. Despite the fact that I had secured an unbelievable deal ($239) for a standard king room, I was upgraded to the Royal Suite. This suite defied my expectations in every way possible, and has single handedly raised my standards for hotels world wide. The panoramic view from Darling Harbour to Barangaroo, all the way to North Sydney was simply breathtaking at night, and inspiring beyond belief during the day.

The only down point was that the hotel pool was unavailable for maintenance the morning I was there (it was a 39 degree day in Sydney), but the staff at the neighbouring Darling allowed me to use their pool which was equally refreshing. All in all, hats off to the Star.

Pros: Fairly comfortable room and huge variety of food at breakfast buffet
Cons: No body moisturiser provided and the corridor on our room level was stuffy and smelly

I had booked to stay here with friends for a City Staycation - booking was for 2 Bedroom City View Suite, but we were kindly upgraded to a Harbour view Suite.
There was a 40 minute wait in the queue to check-in at 2: 30pm - and were initially advised that the room was not yet ready, but was quickly updated that it was.
Once in our rooms, I had to call service desk and ask for coffee, tea, sugar, dish washing and soap to be replaced as Housekeeping did not replenish these. Our luggage took over an hour to arrive. The service team really need to have more staff working during these peak check-in and checkout periods. I recommend you checkout earlier or do Express and request for invoice later as again there was a long queue at the service desk in the morning.

The rooms were clean and beds comfortable - the city views were great also. There is self park and valet parking - I recommend do the valet parking. Although entry into the valet park driveway was a little confusing.

Check-in was quick and easy. Sam was wonderful and after finding out it was my 2 year anniversary with my partner, she kindly gave us an upgrade. The room was spacious and clean. Unbeatable experience and a must try for travellers or couples for a staycation:)

Had twin double room. Door stopper in bathroom missing cover exposing sharp metal, really hurt when stood on. Room was dusty. Requested extra towel 3 days running didn't receive it. Only get 2x coffee pods per day. How are you suppose to order room service without a menu? None supplied in the room. 2 taps on the bathroom sink, one was really loose and nearly falling apart and the other somehow cold water trickled out. For the expensive prices charged, stay elsewhere

There is a grand and bright and opulent entrance to the star with many of their concierge team ready and waiting to guide you into the hotel and valets to park your car. This is where it stops. Upon our arrival at 1.30pm on 1 June our room was not ready (they were very busy due to vivid). Eventually at 4pm our room for 4 nights was finally ready. My expectations were far from met when I saw the room for which we had paid over $500 per night. It was no different to a room we could get in Sydney at the Mercure for example for $180 per night. The room had a king size bed and we had ordered a twin for my son and I. So back down to reception and another wait for a suitable room. Eventually we got there! The housekeeping staff had put in a shower chair for me as I am very disabled and immobile, however I was unable to use it as it was very narrow and I couldn’t fit into it. Consequently, I had no shower for 4 days. There were no teaspoons for the coffee. Our room was not serviced until the 4th day, despite requests to the housekeeping staff and the front desk. On the 3rd June when reaching the tiled area where the lifts were located, my son slipped on the tiled floor which was soaking wet. There was no wet floor sign and had this been me, I potentially would have fractured more bones in my spine. Thankfully, I was riding my mobility scooter at the time. We did report this. I would not recommend staying at the grand star hotel when there are other much nicer and well appointed rooms in the city for far less money. Average Hotel that is NOT worth $500 per night. I won't go back again. Very bad customer service from a staff name Monica at the hotel reception desk. She needs to be gone if the Star Grand Hotel want their customers to come back. She was rude and her tone of voice sounds like she is telling you off. Definitely a Disgraceful act consider I paid $500 for 1 night to copped this kind of nuisance from her.

Great hotel, would come here again. Water was free of charge, but a bit surprised to see that no other beverages were put in the fridge. Blinds on my room were stuck and did not open or close, however the blinds were in the closed position anyway. TV was nice, would have liked to seen the AirPlay and Chromecast features working though.

Great hotel and comfortable Superior King Room as a place to stay few nights.
24/7 hours front service reception and all staffs are well manners to greet customers, from outside corridors to lobby and they are so friendly and willing to help and explain all the hotel benefits of staying here. The hotel staffs provide their best professional service and is precious to see in the hotel environment.
Free parking selected when choose the option staying and the light rail is just near the ground floor. Option for the breakfast included is highly recommended for the person whose prefer breakfast with buffet type with lots of different foods. Location is convenient went to attractions place by waking in few minute and restaurants is surrounded.
A little unsatisfy just the hotel bathrooms cleanliness and tv shows need to be upgraded.
For the long stays, there’s swimming pool, gym and spa facilities at 5th floors and is perfect activities for sport lover.
