The Skin Hospital reviews
66 The staff at the Westmead Skin Hospital are the most friendly and caring I have met. From the moment we arrived, from the friendly car park attendant to the reception staff and the nurses we were made to feel welcome and reassured.
Particularly the nursing staff, I cannot thank you enough. Dr Bonilla and Dr Maryam were wonderful and I thank them.
I have been attending this establishment for a number of years now, at 6 month intervals, due to a condition that requires fairly constant monitoring. The initial consult cost some years ago was heading towards $300 dollars, an amount a bit on the high side. This figure dropped to around $150 for each visit thereafter, again a bit on the high side considering the examination consists of, look at this, prod that, ask this, all done. My last visit was once again classified as an initial consult, resulting in another near $300 dollar bill, even though I have been seeing the same doctor every six months for years. I was told that every year an initial consult was required and that the doctor had not been charging me previously. I re-iterated that he sees me every six months and how could it possibly be an initial consult? Her reply was that he had to do that by law. But if that is the case why had he not done it previously? The fact that a patient has been seeing a doctor constantly for a number of years, at 6 month intervals, for the same complaint, should remove him/her from having to have another initial consult, which is clearly an excersize in price gouging, it can not be described as anything else. It now turns out that the doctor I was seeing at the Skin Hospital was apparently doing nothing, except charging me. I recently attended another skin specialist, after being examined he found that a had numerous sun spots which had to be burnt off. The whole time attending the Skin Hospital, not once did Dr Ibrahim deem it necessary to freeze off any sun spots, which I now find I have many. A very slipshod way of examining people's skin, one doctor, a cursory look over, then telling the patient he is fine, as opposed to another doctor actually doing his job and finding multiple sun spots, then taking the appropriate action. I know which one I would prefer to put my faith in.
All the staff were kind, professional and courteous. The facilities were clean and comfortable for the duration of my stay.
Everything was well explained and the nurses were a lot of fun and helpfull. All staff were competent and considerate of me and each other. It was good to have a caring post op phone call. Pain has subsided and wounds seem fine. Surgeon was highly recommended and I appreciate his expertise.
From the time I got to reception until I left I was made very comfortable. All the nursing staff were very caring. Dr. Simon Lee made me feel very relaxed. I cannot fault my experience on the day I would not hesitate returning if I needed to.
The staff, the nurses and the surgeon absolutely faultless
The follow up fantastic, never experienced such great and professional service
The entire staff were very professional and kept me informed of all steps of my treatment.
My experience with day surgery at the Skin Hospital was a very positive one. All staff members were cheerful, helpful and patient making the process more relaxing by helping me through any difficult patches. They made sure they contacted me the next day to make sure I was OK and there were no complications.
Thank you all!
I first started seeing Dr Abdullah for my acne
I had spent THOUSANDS of dollars on treatments and products elsewhere over the years. All it took was one consultation with Dr Abdullah and with literally a few dollars a month I managed to get rid of my acne for good.
I then started seeing Dr Margit Polcz for treatment of scarring and Becky the nurse.
I underwent x3 RF needling sessions and could not recommend this clinic and it’s doctors and nurses enough. Spend the money and get the proper treatment here, not your local laser clinic or beauty clinic.
My skin is the best it’s ever been and I am entirely happy
I could not fault the skin hospital.
The care I received before, during and after my surgery was excellent.
Mohs surgery went very smoothly. I was looked after by nurses and doctor so well and would definitely recommend the Skin Hospital.
Have been attending for years but in recent years not feeling the consults are thorough and having to return for stuff that could have been done at the time.
Todays visit for 2pm. I answered all the texts confirming I would be there. Arrived around 1.45pm. Was called into the consult room a little after 2. Told to derobe (normal) and then wait until 2.30 before the Dr arrives in my undies. So frustrating for someone still working full time! All the while listening to the chatter of staff outside while I WAIT.
So after the normal routine and a few photos - told to try and book for surgery. Nothing burned off, just a few photos to mark biopsy areas (could have been done in the 20mins I sat there). Ask for another matter to be addressed and told to remind them on the day I book for surgery and maybe it will be done…. I tried to clarify that I didn't want to be back twice for 2 different surgeries as taking time off work is problematic and was happy to book at a later time. Again remind us on the day.
When leaving I didn't book another time (to be frank I almost walked out of the consult before the Dr even arrived), the receptionist asked me to wait to give me the quote for the biopsy and surgery that DID NOT include the additional work I had asked for - so it was never going to be done in my humble opinion.
So OKAY I am a patient not a customer.and yes no doubt the Drs and practice is busy, BUT this visit was a waste of time.
In the past every visit saw some level of treatment (even biopsies), but these days it seems more about getting me to come back rather than providing any real level of treatment.
After 10 years here I don’t think I will be back.

Staff and Dr Lee where totally amazing. Cant thank them enough for making my experience at The Skin Hospital a great one.
Wonderful experience with The Skin Hospital. Dr Shivam Kapila was a experience surgeon, he explained everything to me and did a great job. Staff was always helpful and kind. They ensured i had a smooth surgery and folow-up.
I would highly recommend.

Friendly staff
Everything explained well right from the very first booking to the follow-up phone call.
Thank you all
Excellent service at the Skin Hospital. All the staff are very caring and professional and I highly recommend this service.
I’ve been to the Skin Hospital at Westmead twice now…sadly. My teenage years baking on the beach are now paying me back. I could not be happier with the service I’ve received there. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The facility is spotlessly clean. I loved that I received a follow up phone call post op to ask if I had received my post op home pack and and how the pain management was going. Couldn’t ask for better service than that!
I am very disappointed with the skin hospital at westmead. After waiting for many weeks for my appointment, I took the day off work and turned-up on time. My appointment was for 2pm. At 2: 30pm I was still waiting to see my doctor. At 2: 45pm I had to leave to pickup my school children. I don't understand why we all make appointments, if times can't be adhered to. I understand people can be running late, and things happen. They should allocate some non-bookable times throughout the day, to help reset from the delays. I now need to get myself a new referral and skin clinic.
I just had my first appointment (consultation) at the skin hospital and I met with Dr Margit Polcz. She was very kind, patient and attentive during the session and took her time with me. She gave me a detailed plan and prescriptions for my treatment and I am hoping to see results soon. I was also able to book another session for the end of next month to see how the process is going which was sooner than expected! Overall a very pleasant experience here and I would recommend:)
