CAN'T GET OFF THEIR MAILING LIST
Tried now for over 4 years to get off their mailing list.
I have called two or three times, even my mail now being redirected and I return it with NO LONGER HERE.
Even returning this mail for over THREE YEARS NOW, but to no avail. I donate once and foolishly gave my address and have been ABSOLUTELY HOUNDED ever since.
The cost of their continued mailing must deprive children and worthy people of need, of these valuable funds each year, but they are determined to continually send mail that ends up in the bin.
What a waste of time and valuable resources.

Contacted Salvos Head Office on several occasions regarding 1-2 PAID staff (NOT volunteers or Work for the Dole) at one of their op shops (near Ipswich - but NOT the Ipswich store) helping themselves (and their family) to the good stuff and breaking several store polices. The store involved knows about the issues (reported by several people) but has not acted. Although I received the confirmation email telling me that my email/s had been received I NEVER received a response other than that. I cannot think of another organisation that would ignore something like this. A shame considering it means less funds being raised and therefore less money going to help the community. Maybe there are issues at Head Office that need looking into as well!

On a rare outing, I visited the Underwood Salvos Store. I asked Maria, Store Manager if I could use my Blue Pension Centrelink Card for the 20% off clothing discount offered from Thursday-Saturday as per the sign near the counter (and I pointed out several signs advertising this out to her). I even showed her the card and she said, yes I could use it.
When I was ready to be served I bought my two items to the counter and got my card out again. I was happy to see she would be serving me as she is the staff member who I had asked/shown my card to earlier. She said she wanted ID like a Driver’s License. I told her I don’t have a Driver’s License and she initially refused me the discount. I then pulled out a few letters from my bag, all with my name and address on them and she said, ‘you could be anyone’. I am upset with her suspicious attitude towards me. I have done nothing wrong. I am the owner of the Centrelink Blue Pension Card that I produced. I have a significant health problem the reason why I have the card. The Salvos staff may have noticed that I only walked half way down the store, a result of my disability. I have never driven, again as a direct result of poor health/disability. One would think that the Salvos Stores 20% for clothing is designed to help people but now because I can’t drive and therefore can’t produce a Driver’s License I will not be able to access this discount? Funny enough, I don’t always have it with me so don’t often get to use it but did have it today because I needed it for my earlier Doctor’s visit that day. I’ve had trouble using it at a Salvos Stores on only two occasions, today and last year both times were at the same Underwood store (the reason why I asked/showed the card and then double checked), the other time I was told it was the wrong card and they wouldn’t honour my discount even though I have never had that said to me at a Salvos Store before.
I pointed out that the signs didn’t mention ID/Driver’s License was needed and she said that, ‘You will find this is everywhere’ which was a lie. I wonder if the aged/elderly are asked for a Driver’s License to access the discount? Or was I being judged for some reason? I hadn’t even left the store and she was talking about me to the next customer, actually two/three customers, the one that she was now serving and the one/two next in line could also hear as I heard enough to know that she was saying something about me which I do not appreciate as it is bullying and I don’t come into a Salvos Store to be bullied by your staff.
After weeks of waiting for a response and several follow up emails from my end (most ignored), I finally got a reply from Stuart Estreich Area Manager who advised that if I wished to use my Centrelink Card for 20% off (selected clothing only) I would have to sign a piece of paper in front of staff and show ID with my signature on it where signatures will be compared. I kid you not. The Salvation Army even admitted that this is not procedure/random yet they are prejudging doing it to me when I have done absolutely nothing wrong and which will humiliate me at the front counter in front of staff and other customers. Is it okay to discriminate and humiliate and accuse people of doing the wrong thing? All for 20% off some clothing which totaled 70 CENTS for me!
Today I receive an email from Brad McIver who said that he was told by someone at this store (obvious who) that I was witnessed handing my card around to members of the public so they too could receive the 20% off discount. THIS IS AN OUTRIGHT LIE / NEVER HAPPENED. Funny this is the first time that this has been mentioned even when I had contact with The Salvation Army Liaison Officer who assured me that that my initial claim was fully investigated. Nothing mentioned about this at any time until today. Disgusting behaviour, making up a lie to make me look and feel bad because you did the wrong thing and are not person enough to own up to it. As far as I am concerned you are not fit to hold your position working with the public. I can PROVE YOU are LYING.

Nefarious evangelical organisation. Cover up Child Abuse and get 52 percent of their funding from Government. The Starvation Army has lots of great volunteers, but make no mistake, this is a 2 Billion dollar empire with an agenda. Always "giving" selectively with strings attached but receiving much more. Never has the Salvos been worth so much and never has there been so many people in need. Sickness.

A very charitable and Christian organisation. They don't push their agenda, instead they prefer to quietly work hard. A nice change to the frequent marketing teams attacking you on the street for their latest clients. All donations go to the charity, not the church. The charity itself supports many disadvantaged and struggling people.

Salvation Army sent a worker out to clear a unit at 43 Morehead St Redfern on the 17/11/16 and he must honestly have a heart of GOLD. What an amazing guy to be able to clear out and shampoo a unit (on his own!) It must have been very difficult the smell was horrific but he was smiling and so pleasant talking to people enquiring about the smell. I never knew a person like him existed in this world.please let him know that many of us that live in this building are truly great full. Thank you I hope you have recovered and all the very best to you, you are an amazing guy.
