The Salvation Army reviews
12 We needed a shirt for a photo shoot and this was the only place we could find quickly. The place was clean, tidy and efficient.
We found what we needed. Thank you
One of the guy asked me to open my shopping bag to make sure I didn’t steal anything while I was in the fitting room. WEIRDLY he didn’t ask the white Asian girl who also had a bag but he asked to the middle Eastern looking guy (me) That pretty much says it all #usualracismofaustralia
If you need assistance, a chat and a hot cuppa with a free feed, this is a great starting place. Love the Salvos!
Is generally open mon-fri.for people in need of a shower, feed or was your clothes.the centre also has many other facilities on offer, a good centre with great staff, always their to help.
The street level salvo's offer a free lunch Monday to Friday starting at 12noon till 2pm it's a tasty lunch I like it a lot
I participated one day volunteer work organised by my company and was amazed by its effectiveness. Staff were very attentive and friendly and very considerate towards people from the community and really look after them. Lunch for only $2 made with love and it is delicious! It is a place where people in need can find some peace and dignity. The Salvation Army store is packed with good quality items and very clean and organised. I recommend everyone to pay a visit and get involved with the cause.
They do amazing work for the community and sometimes I have a hit a bargain and great finds in this store.
Not very good service. Walked in to donate 2 bags of clothes. When I walked up to the counter to let the staff know I had some clothes donations for them the person at the counter just pointed to the corner to leave it there. No words, and then kept going back to doing nothing. No help. I had more of a conversation with a lady in the store and appreciation from her saying “you’re a good boy donating all these clothes”. Not even a thank you or any form of appreciation for donating from the staff. Won’t be going back there again and will find somewhere else to donate in the future.
The Salvation Army failed to protect children in its institutions between 1940 and 1990 and provided a culture where they felt afraid and powerless to resist ongoing abuse, a royal commission has found.
Key points:
Salvation Army had no policies or procedures for abuse complaintsChildren physically punished for reporting abuseRoyal commission finds child sex abuse was effectively concealed
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse today released its response into its Salvation Army Southern Territory (TSAS) case study after hearing harrowing stories of physical and sexual abuse and cruelty.
It heard about a "culture of humiliation" and a "culture of punishment and fear" at Salvation Army-run children's homes in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia, where children were regularly beaten, degraded and sexually abused.
I was here for a Xmas party upstairs. It was enjoyable. Lots of people were here. The store is good too
Not a huge store but some good stuffs to be found here sometimes. A lot of weird characters patronage this place which isn't uncommon in most op-shops. They play the music way too loud, staff are helpful and friendly except one of the fat guy who works there in the weekend and Monday, he is extremely rude, sexist and racist.
Most clothes & shoe items are $8. Some bargains found here like RM William boots for $8 (pretty worn condition but still got a lot of life in them), corduroy pants, velvet pants (but too small for me), a few ksubi brands. There's a "boutique section" as well next to the counter which has some nice leather goods and mens shoes as well if you're into brogues etc.
