The Riverboat Postman reviews
48My friend and I have been wanting to do the Hawkesbury Rive Postie cruise for a long time. We had a great time, fantastic value, would highly recommend doing it
Absolutely brilliant trip down the Hawkesbury river. Very informative, tea/coffee and a homemade biscuit to start the trip. Lunch served at the furthest point up river. Very relaxing and I learned some Aussie history. Recommended
Great trip. Delicious lunch. Informative commentary and a friendly crowd. The river is glorious and its history interesting. Highly recommended. Just make sure you catch the train to Brooklyn as parking is an absolute nightmare.
Our visitors from England wanted a different experience, they had been on the Sydney harbour and toured the city. I had been on the Postman run many years ago. I looked up on the computer the night before and found the next day available seats. Twelve hours later, travelling down from the Central Coast, we spent a most enjoyable trip and nice meal. My overseas travelers were very happy and will take back to England loverly memories and photos.
A marvellous day out. Easy to connect to the rail from Hornsby, well organised with booked tables and still easy to move around outside the cabin. The morning tea and lunch were excellent and I would love to do it again.
The first time I took this cruise was many years ago with my young children. Note to younger self and others with the responsibility for entertaining kids. Do something else. But if you'd like a calm 3 hours watching amazing scenery with adults (or on your own) it's fabulous, and stress free. The fact that it was booked out on a spring weekday says it all.
The food (morning tea and light lunch) is pleasant, and everything is beautifully organised.
We had a very nice day with perfect weather and a most enjoyable crise. The comentry by the skipper was good and informative and pleasant. A most relaxing day thank you for the experience. Peter
A really enjoyable, relaxing trip along the Hawksbury River.
All the crew were brilliant-so friendly, helpful & efficient. The Captain's commentary was interesting & he had a great sense of humour, so it was a fun experience!
The lunch and morning tea were lovely and very reasonably priced drinks bought from the bar. Comfortable seating inside for eating and the boat was very clean. Perfect weather & plenty of space outside for the great views.
Very well organised & fantastic value for money. Would highly recommend and we'll definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Wonderful experience, beautiful day learned a lot off history on and around the river and surrounding area. Fantastic 3 hour highly recommend. Thank you also to the fabulous crew.
Highly recommended. Make sure you check the weather before you book - sunny days the best.
Good food and friendly crew. Excellent commentary by the captain. Very relaxing 3 hour cruise!
Very successful and long running river cruise. On the day of my cruise they ran 2 boats but have 3 for busy days. Need to book in advance. Simply lunch but all ingredients fresh and good quality. Excellent bread roll. Highlight was the amusing commentary.
Today I took this river trip based on people's feedback. This is mine:
1. Upon arrival I collected my physical ticket that it needed to board the boat. Today they had yellow and red tickets.
2. Travelling solo, I was put in a table with a family of 6 people. This was very uncomfortable due to loud conversations.
3. Morning tea upon departure was not as good as expected. The anzac cookies were too sweet and the advertised "real" coffee is far from it. It is just Instant Coffee that was not even strong.
4. All people were called for lunch at 11: 30 am. For me it was too early. Nevertheless, I went downstairs to try it. I pre-ordered vegetarian but upon arrival to my seat, I had the normal lunch full of ham and cheese. I had to request my pre-order. Having waited for around 7 mins, the lunch was made of simple salad (tomatoe, rocket, carrot, plus some sort of beans and a piece of bread). There was nothing to season my salad. Left it).
5. Overall, my experience was not as good as expected. Yours could be different but I cannot rate this business more than 1 star.
This was one of the best days out I can remember. Boat commentary food and crew cannot be faulted. I most highly recommend it to all.
We've been before - always a really pleasant day, nice lunch and very reasonable bar prices. Staff go out of their way to make it a great experience, and always nice people to meet!
A great trip this. Lazily floating around the scenic waterways of the Hawkesbury RIver, you learn about the settlements around the waterfront, and the history of the area. Good lunch, with wine and beers available. With the lift now operating at the station, the train makes a very easy way to get there. Highly recommend.
I can’t fault this trip; fantastic commentary, magnificent scenery, yummy morning tea and lunch and friendly staff.
Great picturesque trip more a voyage through geology and history. Excellent commentary and top quality staff, service and food. Imagine real coffee!
The crew were very friendly and service and refreshment excellent. Boat was very clean. Skipper gave a very informative account both historical and modern. A most enjoyable experience
Absolutely fabulous trip. Well organised with good food. The staff, especially the Captain/guide, were outstanding. Very entertaining outing.
Hearing the commentary in upper cabin was difficult
Especially for hard of hearing and when other folk are talking.
Out on the open rear deck was good.
Beautiful food & service by happy & attentive staff.
Well worth the fare.
