The Reef Reserve reviews
27 A great freecamp! Lots of places “hidden “ in the bush, some with gorgeous views across the lake. Be a fantastic place if you’re a fisherman- which I’m not.
Will be back for sure!
Absolutely beautiful. Clean drop toliets, garbage bins, phone reception. Lots of sites to choose from. Well done to local council.
We allowed one day for Oberon explorations, starting with the Reef Reserve. The setting is pleasant with a nice outlook over the lake. The Reserve allows self-contained basic camping, although sites that we saw seemed quite small. Facilities include seating, ablutions, a launch point for unpowered waterfront, signals, access tracks and fence stiles.
Didn't go there, but heard from my grand-dougthers that went camping there, it's a nice place for camping allowed to set a bonfire and could learn to deal with basic natural survival. Such happy campers
A great camping spot. Been there in the early morning, was very foggy and beautiful. Lake was amazing and picturesque.
Great camping and picnic spot. It was very windy when we were there. Picnic tables and toilets. Looks like a good fishing spot.
Had a great time winter camping here, drop toilet available, water and dump site not available on site, but there is a caravan dump site + water 4 mins away.
Free. Up to one week stay. BBQ and toilet. Great for fishing. Spots back from the water. Brilliant. Jesus loves you.
Absolutely beautiful. Great place to camp, fish, paddle around in a canoe or kayak. Access does not require a 4WD, you can have a camp fire, they have long drop toilets.
Lovely quiet camp. Toilet no showers. Spots near boat ramp for vans, some spots around just have to drive around. We found flat spot up hill for van. Apparently can get very busy. Close to Oberon. Can get water at apex park. Loved it! Mayfield gardens is a must.
The Reef Reserve is a picturesque lakeside park that offers a stunning natural landscape with breathtaking views. The park is well-maintained and offers visitors a range of amenities, including picnic areas and scenic walking trails that provide an opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of the lake. The park is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. I enjoyed the tranquil ambiance of the park and the various bird species sightings that added to the park's natural beauty. The Reef Reserve is an ideal destination for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy a relaxing outdoor experience in a serene and tranquil setting with a beautiful lake view.
Beautiful relaxing spot over looking the water, pet friendly and nice and tidy. Toilets were clean and the water activities were great. Highly recommend for a quiet get away
Great free camping spot. Has 2 drop toilets, shaded picnic tables and right on the lake. We watched the sunset over the lake. There are many camping spots, the ones nearer the toilets are hard gravel ground which are hard to peg into but ones further away are dirt campsites.
10 out of 10 free camp. Fishing and paddle boarding, optus and telstra coverage, fires, public toilets, undercover gazebos. Lots of wildlife and a scenic place to set up and camp. Very tidy Dump point/water and iga only minutes away.
Lovely spot to camp with newish CLEAN toilets. Fishing not so good but my fishing is never good.
Awesome spot to camp right on the edge of the lake. Good fishing spot too - we saw some others pull quite a few fish out in a small timeframe, just from the shore with lures. A couple of sheltered tables for picnic. Toilets.
Great visuals of the lake and vista backdrop.
This is a great spot for setting up for up three nights (72hr maximum allowed). Lovely views, great for kayaking, although not the largest waterway, and it's very close to town and other spots to visit for day trips (Kanangra Boyd NP, which is great for walks and swimming under a waterfall).
The only issue with the Reef Reserve is the absolutely disgusting state of the toilets. Unlike NSW National Parks Services who daily clean their drop toilets, these toilets look and smell like they've never been cleaned. Thankfully the town of Oberon is so close it meant we could pop into town for serious business ;).
I definately recommend the spot but be warned, the toilets are not for the faint hearted!
(You'll be pleased I didn't post any photos).
Great place to have a go at fishing. Kayaks are allowed, so if u you oh have one take it with you. There is also a place to camp and toilets available. A little bit chilly when we visited around 9: 30 am. Wonderful views of the dam.
Great place to take the family for a couple of days.
Very popular spot lots of camping ️ areas available. Scenery was fantastic.
Will be going back to enjoy this place again soon.
Quite nice view, popular on weekends. Be sure to bring toilet paper in case the loo has none. Fishing is possible if it's your thing.
