The Oxford Hotel reviews
73 Oxford Hotel, is a great pub for a good afternoon after a long shift with some friends. EWe’ve been going for quite some time now. Mainly to enjoy ourselves with drinks and playing rounds of pool. We’ve also have eaten at this pub some mains but mainly snacks and the one thing that me and my friends absolutely could indulge in and be satisfied was what use to be the thick juicy pineapple cut squid/calamari.
Recently we went a couple days ago and all I craved and my gf craved was the squid. We ordered the squid but had noticed that I had spent $21 for a starter, was beyond me in itself. I never mind with pricing but it’s got to satisfy my taste buds. Without hesitation assuming I was going to get the calamari how we’ve always had it. It came out in a tiny bowl and I noticed it was cute differently, they had obviously used baby squid for this dish because it’s a very common starter dish in most places and they all use small baby squid. I probably got 6 tiny bite pieces out of it and my gf 3. I was very unsatisfied with how little we got and for the price.
The staff and manager all handled it well and were very empathetic and had informed me that the menu had changed. So thank you to the staff/manager for dealing with me.
I know that this one dish was all I’m complaining about, but when you have a crave…. You would expect to get what you think you would be paying for.
Bring back the thick pineapple cut squid back please! ; (
Didn't have any of the food but the drinks are quite cheap, not changing the prices the later in the night it is, and that is really good seeming it is open very late. Very friendly staff.
A dog in the pub came out to the outdoors area and pissed in front of us while we ate. Tables were dirty.
Order a special one not listed on menu (Cucumber Ginger), the bar tender was so nice and made a similar one for me! So nice! And it tasted fantastic! Love it! Very food experience!
We where there for 4 hours and asked us to move before we had dinner. It wasn't a good thing.
Always a great pub vibe at the Oxford. Went to watch the FIFA women's World cup final and was surprised to find it wasn't super crowded. Everything you'd expect at a local pub and more
5pcs calamari for 19$ bad experience
For take away, and dry old salad from the chef.
Look like not professional
I'm local and regular
Thanks
Let me start by saying my visit was around 3 am and I was in the area, deciding whether to finally call it a night or to grasp onto any form of entertainment to stretch what had been a good evening with friends, a few more hours. Turn the corner and the flashing lights beckoning any weary night owl inside to try and tempt lady luck to give her favour and claim the spoils of countless travellers from previous encounters. Put in $50, and walked out 30 minutes later with $1000. Xie Xie.patrons were entertaining and what is to be expected at that time. That's about as much as I can talk about the place. Next time, I'll try and visit a little less intoxicated, and before the 'end of night stragglers' consume the remaining of the open venues for their end of evening bender enders.lol.didn't step on the broken glass in the entrance, so there is no need to add anything about that. Till next time, Fair Siren of the Night. ️️
If you missed Australia Day at the Drummoyne Oxford Hotel this year, you have missed out!
The court yard BBQ was fantastic, and we all washed it down with ice cold $5 buck tinnies all day!
Then at 2pm a fantastic live music duo played a great combo of Aussie rock classics and favourite tunes for 5 hours, that you just couldn’t help dancing to!
Regulars, families and blows ins alike had a ball!
Again, Fab the new manager and staff at the Oxford are bringing our local back to what it was many years ago!
I’m looking forward to many happy days ahead!
Interesting when you ask the staff member a question and she responds with 'what '. Not quite what I'm used to at the Oxford
The Oxford Hotel is my local pub. I love the friendly staff here and most especially, the top-notch, absolutely professional manager Fab.
I rarely actually eat here however - no reason other than that I never thought of it.
A wet day today ️ and I had time on my hands, so I hung about for lunch.
Just had their salt & pepper calamari. Not disappointed. Enjoyed very much. Crispy and flavoursome. Delicious caper mayonnaise on the side. They have a new menu at the mo at the Oxie. I’d recommend trying it. Delicious
Very friendly service. Barramundi that my partner said was good, my wagyu steak was ok but not discernibly better than a non wagyu.
Surprisingly good & im not a pub girl! The outside courtyard is nice and the upstairs has a great atmosphere. The food is SO GOOD! The maple bacon cheeseburger is so good omg you need to try it! The maple on the bacon is legit. That’s actually all I’ve ever eaten there because it’s so good I can’t bring myself to order anything else. The staff are friendly and the drinks are good!
Since Fab took over the management of the Oxford Hotel recently, great changes and improvements have made this my favourite local watering hole again.
With dogs being allowed, an outside smoke free zone, events every night and live music again, the old girls has come alive again. The Managers Free Beer and Pizza day, the pub opening late for the soccer World Cup and New Year’s Eve recovery BBQ have been just a few highlights in recent times.
Along with the best staff and new and improved security who on the whole are excellent, lovely pub meals and the good old pool table back, it’s vibe is like it hasn’t been for 20 years.
Thanks Fab, other managers, staff and security for making our local a great place to come to again.
Happy 2023.
Misleading. Upstairs restaurant that shows all the bright photos.is closed on weekdays. U can only eat downstairs. Very old rustic vibe good for drink but not food in day time.
Great vibes here
DOGS ARE VERY WELCOMED HERE ALSO!
Everyone is so friendly, very welcoming people and alot of different personalities.
There's a gaming room, pool table, kitchen is upstairs but can order from the main bar. There is 3 bars all up, there's function rooms and an outdoor area with booths and a massive screen to watch FOOTY on.
Live DJs on Saturday nights.
I have been telling these guys for at least 5 years. Focus your projector. Still haven't done it. It takes a ladder and half a brain.
Give it a try. BTW I am a frustrated local.
Also the courtyard is perfect for dogs.
Apparently the Guinness has just come back on tap from several years and that's good because it was the only reason I visited the place from about 5 years or so. It's a relatively big pub and a lot quieter than I remember, but it is an old building and probably needs a renovation, the internals are looking a bit worn. It's located well on a major road intersection and the staff are friendly. Standard pub fare for the food, okay but nothing special to report.
Stumbled across the Trad Irish group on Wednesday night. What a fabulous bunch of guys & gals!
The night went from a steak & a pint to many, many pints as the band kept us glued to our seats. So friendly and welcoming. Will be back next Wednesday!
Friendly staff, and the food is good. I think they're doing a reduced menu at the moment, but it was all pretty standard/nice pub fare
