My husband attended the whiskey tasting last night. Josh was able to cater to my husband, his friend and disabled father and went above and beyond for them.

This is the place. Great whisky, great wine, and great team to learn spirits off and great wine. I've said great a lot. Doesn't matter. Do it.

If whiskey is the standard, I think it is the best in terms of composition and variety among liquor shops in downtown Sydney. Of course, in terms of price, it is not that cheap, but it was nice to have whiskeys that are not easily available.

Had a great time at the Springbank tasting. Josh led a very interesting tour (via slideshow) of the distillery as we moved through the whiskies. Will definitely be coming back for other tastings

Stumbled across the oak barrel by chance and we were sure happy that we did. Great selection of whisky for sale as well as some rare museum items to look at.had a long chat with a very knowledgeable gentleman who worked there and came away with a bottle which you will not find elsewhere. Brilliant shopping experience- the type of store I will drop by each time I visit Sydney.

Thanks to Tom for an interesting and informative whisky tasting session. Wonderful time deep diving into different techniques and variations accross countries. The whiskies were delicious and very interesting. Fantastic experience!

Surprised there's not more bottle shops like this around Sydney. These guys have been doing it for years. Huge range. Just check the packaging date cos some beers have been sitting around for too long

Absolutely top notch customer service. Went in to buy a nice bottle of red, explained what I wanted to a really helpful & knowledgeable employee & he suggested a great bottle, despite it being less expensive than what I originally had in my hand. Also left some Christmas shopping in there & they kindly kept it to one side for us. Will certainly be back to try more of their vast selection. Highly recommend!

The BEST experience with these guys! I was let down by Dan Murphy's with 3 failed deliveries of a corporate gift that I needed to arrive before I did in Sydney (I ordered two week in advance).

When I got into Sydney I went straight to The Oak Barrel and arrived 30 mins before they opened and they still opened up for me!

They showed me around the store and were very warm and inviting and ultimately provided the solution I need.

Could not recommend these guys enough! Support local indie stores like this - we need them!

Realy nice bottle shop near the CBD. The staff helped me a lot and suggested a realy good wine. I strongly recomand.

Tom with the blonde pony tail was phenomenal he talked shop with me for about 30 mins and allowed me to try a whisky which I then bought. One of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a bottle shop

Amazing range, close relationships to an impressive host of local distilleries & bottlers.

Hands down the best beer shop in Sydney. An amazing range of everything from lambics and guezes to smoked doppelbocks and everything in between. Staff are friendly, super knowledgeable and more than happy to have a chat about the products.

Whisky and wine selection are also cracking.

Stopped in for a tequila tasting and had the opportunity to taste some really premium drops and discounts on the night. Very informative and staff were great.

Went here for a sake class with Tommy and was not disappointed. Very knowledgable and humble guy. The rest of the staff I interacted with were super nice and felt very warm. Lots of great options for craft stuff here, you could probably find anything you're looking for.
Will definitely be back for another class and if I am looking for something unique and special for gifts/events.

Crazy number of beers to choose from and knowledgeable staff to help you pick your new favourite beverage or a gift for someone else.

Decent selection of other liquors too like gin from local heroes.

Amazing shop. Huge selection of whisky and spirits with a whole load of stuff you would not expect to find! Heaps of decent bourbon including staff Jr and barrell. Massive craft beer selection from around the world. Staff are hugely knowledgeable and passionate - retailers across Australia take note! Thanks guys
