The Lucky Hotel reviews
39 Exorbitant prices on all their products, you also have to pay extra for using your bank card and for withdrawing cash.
Service is slow at the bar, unaware of a sense of urgency after visiting several times.
You’re literally paying for the same drink elsewhere, good food at ridiculous prices with extra fees anywhere you use your bank cards whilst the service is snail pace.
The management need some investment to improve their skills here.
It has always been a great experience, either for lunch or dinner, the atmosphere, the food and service is great.
Had lunch here the other day and was blown away by the quality of the food. A great undercover area out the back makes for a great outdoor dining experience. Positioned in the heart of the CBD of Newcastle so parking is the only negative
-Room & bathroom large and clean
-Room 109 is quite dark
-Staff attentive and friendly
-very good restaurant
-Unfortunately there are no parking spaces available. We had to go a few hundred meters away
Park in the parking garage and drag all your luggage to the hotel
A pleasant surprise. Way more than we expected (a pub)
The room was fresh and clean with a window view of the wonderful courtyard.
There was a muso performing in the evening, (we were forewarned by txt) great entertainment and room kept out 95% of the noise.
The young staff were extremely pleasant and helpful.
The location is right in the heart of Newie. A short walk to everything.
We will definitely be back.
For an older pub it was a pleasant surprise in walking through into a covered courtyard dining experience with chef quality meals. Very nice atmosphere.
A wonderful hideaway in Newcastle. Husband and I booked a 1 night stay here to attend a friend's birthday and we almost immediately decided that this place is worth coming back to.
The room was clean and well designed, with windows overlooking the beer garden. The receptionist was welcoming and helpful, and we received a free bottle of wine for booking directly with the hotel.
Spent the weekend at the Lucky. What a great find. Sympathetic restoration among the faded commercial downtown which is enjoying a revival among a diverse range of cool venues and restaurants.
Nice kitchen here does great pub food, and the bar is warm, inviting and comfortable. Cocktails are great. Even the Lucky bottled wine is very good value.
Rooms are on the small side but that's to be expected from this era. They are comfortably appointed and themed to reflect the history of the location. Bathrooms were very impressive and we enjoyed a small balcony with a quality outdoor setting. The staff made our stay very comfortable and went out of their way to welcome us.
Great accommodation, comfy beds, clean rooms, very central to everything. Great beer garden, friendly staff. Would stay again.
Good open venue with a great beer selection, the staff were very friendly and specifically Zar who bartended for us was great and very attentive.
Service was good, staff were friendly and the food was great, drinks are a bit pricey but it wouldn't stop me from going back.
Cool space.but, like many things in Newcastle - people included - the Lucky was a better place when it was a run-down dump in the 1990s.
If you are going to charge $20 for a burger and fries it needs to be better than Hungry Jacks. The burger I got wasn’t.
Nice place to watch football or catch up with friends but restaurant needs to lift its game on the basics.
Do not stay here unless you are booking direct through The Lucky website. I was penalised for booking through Wotif. My room's amenity was below par, had no view into the restaurant. The only view I had was a wall. There was hardly any natural light. To add additional insult the welcome information advised that if I booked through the Lucky website I would have received a complementary bottle of wine. This was not advertised on their website. Staff couldn't care less. There is much better accommodation in Newcastle.
Staff are very friendly we took our dogs with us and sat outside and the staff brought water out for them which we were not expecting nothing was a problem for them interior was very clean and smelt fresh
This was a great pick for the last night of our road trip. Close to food, we found parking quite easily.
The “touch free” key pickup and drop off was a great system too!
A nice pub with a rustic feel and a lovely old building. Serve great food with the pub mainstays including burgers and steaks and as well as that they have a Mexican themed menu which is top notch. Would recommend, the affordable prices and tasty food are a great combination.
Saturday 8th Febuary we had my daughter Hens in The Oxford Room located near main bar.
Excellent room for a small function
Service & Set up 10 out 10
from beginning to end
Defintely recommend
Stayed overnite in a balcony room
So lovely decor modern fresh & very clean
In every room on wall a meaningful quote relate to history of The Lucky a nice touch to the room.
Affordable walk distance to great cafes if required for breakfast or just coffee
All staff very friendly helpful & most important service with smiles
We all agreed a great place to be in
Newcastle
Thankyou to all at The Lucky so glad we chose your venue!
Very quaint and special hotel. A great spot to stay when you're visiting Newcastle. Friendly staff. A little difficult to find a park in street if you have a car.
Sorry to say the food is hit and miss. But because the people who I ate with were generally happy with their meals I am giving a 3 star.
Not a lot wrong with this place. The courtyard is very nice, lots of natural light and a great living wall. Food is good, not amazing but certainly not bad and the service is typically quick enough. Drinks are expensive- $14 for a beer and kids lemonade.
