The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel reviews
41Great place to with family and friends, welcoming and friendly stuff, the only thing is the curries portions are pretty small but tasty
Old style pub, the sandstone walls provide and ambience of comfort. Great brews and friendly staff. They've a cute menu in the main bar. Well worth a Sunday (any day) session. They do serve beer paddles for tasters.
Bad smelling bar packed with cruise ship tourists. Their Ale beers tasted foul, the pie was like leather and the fish & chips came with tasteless McDonald's fries. Definitely not worth the trek from the rocks.
The location was perfect. The room was lovely and quite spacious. There was no noise from the downstairs bar area. The bar staff looked after us well. They stored our bikes overnight in the cellar and had them ready in the morning to collect, sterling job. Overall our stay was wonderful thank you
Best pub in Sydney.
Old school English pub. Wooden floor boards, fireplace, craft beers.
In house brewery tour was the highlight of my day.
Beautiful place which we are playing backgammon every Tuesday. Tasty bears, gorgeous and kind staff where you can find Sydney culture, have a chat with friends and enjoy the moment
Amazing food and staff. The old hotel has been kept very well and well worth the visit for dinner
Understaffed with backpackers - gone a bit pricey for a pub - nice but more restaurant than pub - I am sure brassiere was not part of the heritage - otherwise good - lamb rack tough to eat

Thanks for the response- went again as a friend likes it. Better! Good work and kudos for taking the feedback postively and turning it into an advantage! Well done management
Despite being a tourist pub it holds its own for food ambience and beer. Local brews are famous. Very easy place to have a beer at.
Schooners were invented dockside Sydney for good reason and it seems sacreligious to neglect this cultural imperative by only offering pints or halves? Why dear Lord, why?
Also, my pie was tepid.
Don't mind the smallish, cosy aspects of this historic place. You'll really appreciate the details of the building and of course the small brewery. Great pub atmosphere!
Hoping to be constructive - the beef pie with mash and mushy peas was delicious, with the unfortunate downside being the pie didn't have a single chunk of beef. It was a beef gravy pie. That said, the pub is really nice, great to sit outside and watch the world go by, and it was definitely one of the best pubs I found in the area.
Great pub.enjoyed the service and food esp.pizza and beef pie! But Apple pie a complete disappointment.think frozen Aldi apple pie and you’ll get the idea!
Best bit was friendly security/greeting person who took us to our table in the far corner.we had made a booking. Service was terrible. No one acknowledged that we existed. No menus provided no run down on procedure for drink & food orders. Very disappointed in service. Food selection was very small. However the food we selected was adequate.
Brewery in the city! Seasonal selection, some old classics. Some better than others but will let you figure that out.
Food also excels upstairs in the bistro.
Kids tolerated but not much room to manoeuvre
Had an improv lunch here. The atmosphere was just extraordinary, with a genuine local pub feel to it. The service was amazing, as was the food. Couldn't recommend The Lord Nelson more highly.
I think this is the best hotel I have been to since I was 30. I am now 53. Bouncer was so cool and friendly. Ladies behind the bar absolutely rocked it and made the night. Thank you from WA.
My wife and I went to this pub today and the experience was ordinary for a place that prides itself on its history. They didn't do cocktails and when I queried it the publican and I presume the owner rudely informed me without even looking at me that his place sold beer. This was a lie as they do sell wine. Anything that they can pore straight from a bottle into a glass is their speciality. The owner was rude and arrogant. I then asked for a gin and tonic and the look I got seemed to say that it had been years since they had had a request for same. It was placed on the bar in the smallest glass you can think off and they left out the sliced lemon. If we'd been out at woop woop somewhere I might have not been that surprised but on reflection that is unfair as they most likely would have been more polite and sought to give the customer what they asked for. Seems a bit too much for the Rocks.

Very nice pub.
Food is great, serving pub classics with some modern twist. Their beer, or better beers, are nicely crafted and taste great.
Try Nelson’s blood Stout!
