The Little Nel reviews
83 The lady at hotel reception was very kind directing us to disability accessible parking and problem solving to allow access. The coffee was great and food was good, and we love a dog friendly place.
The table had mould growing between the table and the finish - probably a complication of being so close to the water.
Great breakfast, definitely ask for a table in the shade if it's sunny. They were pretty busy for breakfast so the service was a little slow. The Acai bowl was good.
Lunch menu, When ordering seafood check if fresh? The frozen stuff, v disappointing. Good menu-variety for lunch, but like alot of cafes in Nelson Bay, staff have/give attitude, whether a large group or just 3
Amazing spot for a breakfast. Loved my breakfast burrito and the Tropical crush smoothie. Perfect combination they also have options from the bakery like fresh croissants, muffins etc. Got a takeaway latte too, was a good one
Very cool place. Breakfast was nice and you had food envy looking at other peoples breakfast so that is a good sign. Tables and outside area could have been cleaner.
Very close to the Nelson bay marina area. Very reasonable price of the good. We ate breakfast burrito. Iced coffee for 5 dollars and big proportion is great.
A wonderful dog-friendly cafe, with beautiful and tasty meals! The French toast was lovely with many sauces, and the açai had a great mix of ingredients that all complemented each other! Highly recommend!
Best Breakfast food. The staff are caring and very approachable. Not from the area and have been here twice, by far the best cafe in Nelson Bay. Definitely recommend!
Our family of 4 and my fur baby went to The Little Nel for lunch yesterday. Staff are so friendly and attentive. Our lunch was so fresh with such beautiful presentation. Coffee was wonderful. The fish and chips are very yummy. Highly recommended. 10/10.
They serve amazing sambal chilli scrambled eggs with green papaya. Coffee is fabulous and the service is always good.
The food was lovely, the wait staff are young but it takes a bit to catch their attention to order more but they are helpful once you catch them. Great value for money.
The food is good.
The patio seating is dog friendly, but they won’t let the dogs inside if it’s raining. So watch the weather.
Beautiful place to have breakfast!
Coffee was great! Pricey but the quality and taste of the food was worth it.
When we got there it was very busy, but were seated within 10 min. The coffee and breakfast was good and it had a big outdoor seating.
My husband and I were very excited to eat at this restaurant, however, the poor service, small portions, long waits and miscommunication really disappointed us. We called to make a booking and were advised that they don't take bookings for after 9: 30am. When we visited, we asked if we could make a booking for two days later (as the wait times are crazy!) and then were told that they only take same-day bookings. We then called two days later for a same-day booking, only to be told they don't take same-day bookings. As you can imagine, this extremely frustrated us as clearly the staff are all not on the same page as each other.
Unfortunately, as kind as we were, the staff were inhospitable and unfriendly towards us, which was very disappointing.
Furthermore, having ordered 5 different meals, the portions were very small for high prices, especially compared to other cafes. However, the items that we ordered tasted good, especially the smoothies.
Absolutely. Freaking. Amazing. I would drive 4.5hrs from where I live to come here again for breakfast.
Hands down the best service I've had at a cafe, fantastic food and great coffee as well.
We walked in on a fairly busy Sunday after a dive weekend and asked for a table of 15 knowing that it would be a tough request but the staff came through and did an amazing job at accodating us.
After a few minutes were seated in the conference room behind the main dining area and initially I was concerned that the waitstaff would forget about mius as is often the case when seated in an obscure location, but we were pretty much pampered with attention.
I had the fish and chips with an iced oak milk dirty chai which was great. Food looked amazing all around the table. Definitely going back and would absolutely recommend. Thank you guys for such a great experience!
Total disappointment for the main meals.
$14 for a boring ham and cheese croissant. Ordered bacon and egg roll for $18 and asked to swap for something else instead of bacon. I’m not told they will charge me $5 for giving me mushrooms instead. A little warning would have helped. Overall the food quality based on what we ordered isn’t worth their rating as best cafe. I have been to this cafe on multiple occasions and never had a bad experience. Coffee was great as always. I get a super sized bacon and egg roll in Sydney for $18, with eggs, halloumi, spinach, mushrooms, with home made relish. Bacon swapped for avocado or hash brown at no cost at a 4.5 star rated cafe. I will spend $70+ elsewhere on my next visit.
Went here with my partner for the first time and the brekky and coffee was beautiful, service was also really good, the girls were very friendly and served us fairly quick. Would definitely come here again
