The Lilian Fraser Garden reviews
10A nice little gem in the neighbourhood, easily missed or forgotten. Doesn't have the space to compete with big gardens, but has packed a lot of interesting little garden beds with winding paths that keep revealing new surprises as you explore further.
Quiet little garden, private but free to visit. Can also be booked for little parties including the cottage
Beautiful garden open to the public - perfect for a wander or a quiet read on a park bench. Mostly level. No facilities. Plenty of street parking.
This garden was gifted to the community by my paternal aunt Lilian Fraser. She was a pioneer for women in academia in her chosen field of botany. Her wish was that the property be used "in perpetuity as a public park. " She would be smiling if she were able to read the comments here.l commend the council for removing the cottage, as much as it held memories for me.lt has opened the back lawn area up again. The original home was built on the front corner which has become a busy round about and she made the painful decision to demolish and rebuild down Lawrence street. However that took up the open lawn area where people in the local area were often welcomed especially on bonfire nights!
Enjoy the little gem-like treasure her gift has become and continues to become. That was her wish. Anna Robilliard
We hired this place for a work team day. The gardens are lovely and the facilities are basic but adequate.
Oh it’s breathtaking small treasure garden with big collection flowers and beautiful blossoms trees.
Good to go read a book, hardly anyone there, nice old garden, smaller version of Wendy whitelys.
Beautiful garden and much improved since the removal of the old house and the extension of the property. The gardener is doing a great job at keeping it tidy but it would be much nicer if the council did go ahead with the flowers they had promised to plant (hydrangeas, rhododendrons etc). It could become another Lisgar Garden in that respect.
A beautiful garden with sunny areas and nice shaded benches in the lower section. I was a bridesmaid at a wedding there few years ago and wedding photos were spectacular!
