The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre reviews
19Awesome place for arts and crafts activities for adults and children. You can learn a lot about aboriginal heritage and cultures.
Went to a morning workshop
showing what colours go when
they catch fire, then a Tea
tasting and in the evening a
music event with mixed cultures
music played by bands from
different countries.
19/8/23 Threads followed by discussion.
1st photo installation is finished after many days of the artist and her helper threading each side simultaneously.
2nd photo they are ready to start cutting.
3rd taken at completion of 12 minute one by one thread cutting by both artist and helper.
Danny Eastwood, born 1943, is a descendant of the Ngemba Tribe of Western Sydney. A self-taught artist, Eastwood has worked across a range of mediums, including painting, illustration, cartooning (for the fortnightly newspaper The Koori Mail).
Attended Sydney World Pride roadshow information session and checked out the Whitlam exhibition.
Great facilities and parking provided during the hip hop festival, great atmosphere and on the day had something for everyone.
Love it.wanna save me bucks so i can buy my first painting from a local artist, ok, it's good to dream, seriously, good people, welcoming.go there ya mugs and support it.it supports indigenous arts and culture, has disability access and toilets and another project iniated by leo kelly along with the alroy tavern at rooty hill, good to go to vinnies around the corner for a poke.thank you people.x
They had a thing where you could draw on the walls.great to get my graffiti energy out in a controlled environment (i dont graffiti nor do i endorse it)
Wonderful place for the family, and all ages. There are an array of events and activities, would recommend locals and visitors to sneak a peek at the exhibit as well as local talent.
Very good, any photo exhibition or music and jam season, easy parking, close to train station, clean place, good customer service, clean toilet
Small art gallery which we enjoyed walking through for about 20 minutes. There are some changing exhibitions, like some new ones from local artists.
However the highlight is the artwork of old blacktown. There are some really realistic renditions in paint and charcoal of blacktown houses and local areas, which gives you an insight into the history as well as are so beautiful.
We were enticed to the Arts Centre after a Playschool Concert. Maybe re-look at the children drawing on walls activity. Our 5 year old understood but the 2 year old went home and drew on his family's wall (even though we tried our best to shield him from watching).
Staff are really friendly and helpful. My 7 year old and I attended a couple of the summer holiday art workshops and they were well organized and allowed the children freedom to create and express themselves while offering guidance on technique. Looking forward to another visit.
There is no place like home when you enter the Centre, the message Blacktown Council propagate is that we love everyone no matter the place you’re coming from, once you arrive in the Centre you must eat and take home with you, so sometime don’t be shy bring your bag and put food inside but notify them or else Camera will be embarrass before Mayor see it damnnnnnm
Fantastic people, supportive of local artists and they have a diverse range of activities and interests to suit people in the community, from the individual to families.
I went to the Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre after hearing the talented artist Wendy Murray was having training courses at a pop-up studio called "The Poster Centre" inspired by Garage Graphix, a legendary print workshop active in the eighties and nineties. I was fortunate to learn about the screen-printing process as well as creating my own poster using 1960s Letrapress sheets to transfer lettering and images to a poster. If you are interested in learning this art, then enrol in a course because Wendy is leaving overseas and her last training session is on 31 August.
Great venue to celebrate Aria Week with some amazing local musicians and the incredible Nathaniel!
Great place to go and see what local ART has to offer. Enjoy in diversities of Artworks and Cultures.
A very prestigious gallery, the space itself has a great flow, the lighting is world class and to walk through this gallery is a delight to the senses and a very classy experience indeed.
A good local gallery in the heart of Blacktown.
Keep an eye out for the various shows that transition through
