I had a wonderful experience at The Gum Sanctuary with Dr Hunter and Julia. They are a small boutique family business and are always professional, on time and explained everything that I needed to know. Every time I speak with Dr Hunter and Julia I feel like I have been talking with friends. The both went out of their way to accommodated my needs and resole my concerns about the procedures. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I have been seeing Dr Hunter on and off for a few years now and couldn’t be happier with the service. The work he does is A+ and he is an absolute pleasure to visit. Matt, Julia and all of their staff are fantastic!

I am really annoyed at the lack of communication from this clinic. They cancelled my appointment without telling me. They simply take your money and do not have the courtesy to forward ANY of the imaging or notes they took from the initial consult.

I acknowledge that schedules change due to unforeseen circumstances but I don’t understand how a simple email / text / phone call was too difficult to send to say that my appointment was cancelled.

My husband and I have been both seen Dr Hunter at The Gum Sanctuary a number of times over the years. He is such a thorough professional, highly experienced, while completely up to date with the latest advances. Plus he is so gentle, and does such great work, that my husband (who hates seeing the dentist) is always happy to see Matthew. And I feel the same way. It's an amazing medical service, with brilliant staff and a wholistic and long term approach, even in emergencies; always accomodating, and promptly communicative and collaborative with your general dentist. We couldn't recommend The Gum Sanctuary highly enough.

I wouldn’t trust my gums to any other periodontist than Dr Hunter. He’s knowledge and expertise is above and beyond and to the highest standards. Julia in the reception is also so lovely and caring and this practice truly cares of their patients wellbeing.

Dr Matthew Hunter is a highly skilled professional and the Gum Sanctuary enforces the highest level of infection control to ensure that all staff and patients are safe. All the staff are lovely and friendly.

I was referred to Dr Hunt a year ago and was assured that he performs miracles with gum disease treatment and regeneration. And now, a year and almost $3000 (or even slightly more) later not only my problem hasn’t been resolved, I’ve been advised to see yet another specialist (? Dental dermatologist) to check my gums. Isn’t The Gum sanctuary name pertaining to the gum disease treatment? I started seeing the doctor in February and the last time I saw him was October last year and not only he didn’t help me, he has never given me the answer to what my problem was. It was more like “I think” and “maybe”. Oh, and he also suggested rinsing my mouth with Peroxide and/or salty water. What a joke! Extremely disappointed with the service! Would certainly not recommend him to anyone.

Really disappointed about my two experiences here. Asked for a deep clean on my first visit and got a general clean that I could've had at my dentist for a quarter of the price. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt because I figured this may have been an unconventional request for a periodontist, and decided to book in a full gum assessment and treatment. I had to cancel my appointment a few days out due to contracting Covid19 and called twice without a response or call-back to indicate that they had received my message. After I came out of isolation, I finally managed to get in contact with the receptionist again and rescheduled my appointment. When the day arrived and I showed up for my assessment and treatment, Dr Hunter asked me whether I'd had Covid at all or whether I was symptomatic, to which I replied, "Yes, I told you I had Covid a few weeks ago - that's why I moved the original appointment to today. " He then proceeded to look up the government's isolation regulations, discovering that someone who had contracted Covid was allowed to attend a medical centre 3 days after they had finished 7-day isolation. When I told him that it had been 10 days since I finished isolation, he arbitrarily decided that I needed to show him evidence of a negative RAT test before he could treat me. I didn't feel the need to explain to him that this was a ridiculous expectation given that the government had only mandated the registration of RAT results a few days ago because he was so out of touch with the local Covid situation that he said I could just walk across the road and pick up some RATs and we'd be good to go. Mate, what planet have you been living on! You're more likely to find a chemist with a supply of durries than RATs! But in all seriousness, if he was going to make these arbitrary requirements before treating me, why didn't they tell me this on the phone while confirming my rescheduled appointment? They knew I'd had Covid - I left 2 messages!

Thanks for wasting an hour and a half of my day.

I should've trusted my instinct that there was something amiss when the receptionist kept telling me that I didn't have to worry about anything because the Periodontist was 'very good' every time I raised a query. Like, he's well-paid professional; it's an expectation that he's 'very good. ' But telling us about it doesn't fill the patient with confidence. If anything, it suggests that one is a secure insecure about their abilities.

Staff are courteous and professional and always have time to answer all your questions. Highly recommend.

I am so impressed with Dr Matthew Hunter's care and knowledge. He was an absolute wealth of information, detailed and practical, and his level of care was fantastic. Incredibly gentle and thoughtful while being thorough. The office manager Julia is also wonderful, thorough and thoughtful. I am so happy i found this place and my teeth and gums are already feeling amazing. I highly recommend the gum sanctuary to anyone with gum problems.

Dr Hunter is wonderful. He takes the time and attention to do things properly which I really appreciate as I have often felt rushed and not properly taken care of with other doctors. The office manager Julia also goes that extra mile with assisting when booking in referrals and managed to use her people skills to get me an early appointment within 2 months when there was over a 12 month waiting list for related services. Well done to the entire team to making everything so easy for me.
