The Cipher Room

Superb experience! Have been to the Newtown location twice to play Espionage and The Marlowe Hotel, both are excellent rooms for groups of 4-5. Diverse puzzles and lots of "A-ha! " moments. Shout-out to our host Abbie for blending warmth and enthusiasm with being super clear about things to do (and not to do!) while we were in the room.

The Cipher Room has a fantastic reputation so I went in with high hopes and they did not disappoint! We did two rooms, Espionage and the Marlow Hotel, and both were absolutely stunning! Their puzzles and room design blew my mind. The staff were super friendly.
100/10. Fantastic!

We did this as a corporate team building exercise as a small team and had such a blast. Everything from the waiting room and hallway look and feel was on brand and it was fun and higher quality (and more difficult in a good way) than we anticipated. Was great to see how the team worked together and we escaped espionage room with only 5 minutes to spare! Highly recommend for small work teams. We will be coming back soon!

Absolutely OUTSTANDING! Although we’ve played before, we are true novice escapees and played The Cipher Room’s original Espionage game getting out with just 15 seconds to spare! I wish I could tell you about the puzzles without blowing the secrets (and ruining the fun) – but please know they are mind-blowingly brilliant and a good 24 hours later, I am still thinking about how clever the entire experience was. We loved the afternoon – it happened to be a cold wet day in Sydney, so The Cipher Room was a great “screen-less” place to keep us entertained. The staff were excellent, the entire “vibe” and feel of the place, not just in the escape room but in the entry and hallways, was absorbing. This is a small family-owned business that deserves all our patronage – The Cipher Room is an artform of creativity and sleuthing. I more than HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Cipher Room to all locals and visitors to Sydney!

It was very cleverly planned room escape game we did the cabin and loved the shock when we found the killer! Highly recommended. Daniel there was very helpful and although we forgot his name and kept calling him Brendan he was still very nice to us hahaha thanks guys! See you soon to try other games!

Ive done the french revolution one, and the 'espionage' one, they were both excellent, the puzzles were very clever and creative.the interiors of the rooms were very well done as well.

We just do one of the new rooms (la rebelle) at st peters and my GOODNESS it was amazing. The attention to detail was fab, the puzzles were challenging but manageable and we had a great time. Alejandro was a wonderful host too. Highly recommend!

Really enjoy cipher a lot! My wife and I did 4 of their rooms in a day and had a blast. Great designs, great mechanics and puzzles and super lovely staff.

This is our second time to Cipher Room. Previously we did La Rebellion and this time we did Mr Pepper's Toy Shop. The rooms at this venue are amazing. So much attention to detail. We loved the variety of puzzles and some of the features were impressive. We loved our games master Gus, he was great and responsive.

I've been to Cipher Room 3 times (twice in Newtown and once across the road in St Peters). They put incredible care into all their rooms and they're really well paced. A great experience always!

Did the Marlowe Hotel room with three other people who had played escape rooms before. It was fun and the puzzles were set out well. It wasn’t super hard considering it was a level 5 room, but it was definitely a good experience.

Amazing! Excellent puzzles with a wide variety of clues, great themes, and atmosphere! Will absolutely be going again!

As a group of 5, we attempted Mr Pepper's Toy Shop and it was, hands down, the BEST escape room all of us have ever experienced. The puzzles and room itself were great, but the staff involvement in the storyline added all the pizzazz to make it an unforgettable experience. I would highly recommend this escape room to anyone and everyone! P. S: The pins are a nice touch to remember the experience.

My group of 4 played The Cabin. The room was super immersive, maintaining a creepy and spooky vibe throughout. Fun and engaging puzzles. I would definitely come back to play another room.

We tried the room espionage today and we had a lot of fun. The room was well designed and beautifully decorated, the puzzles are not super hard but very fun to solve. Our DM Maddison was very nice and gave us the right amount of hints when we really needed them. Overall this is a wonderful experience and I recommend this place for anyone who want to try a good room escape. There was only a small thing that we weren’t very happy about, we were there around 15mins early because we don’t want to be late but we weren’t allow to wait inside.

Very fun and unique experience for small groups. You are in a spacious yet confined set of rooms for one hour so if you get anxious easily or are claustrophobic this isn't for you. Frank, the host (or the voice of God) was warm, genuine and attentive when needed - if only all of life's difficulties were solved by calling out "Frank!? "

Great fun, vibe, theme and friendly staff. And we managed to do the Marlowe Hotel with only a tiny bit of help!

Went here for a team event, the hosts were so gracious and lovely. The game was very fun and challenging and very immersive. One of the rooms had a slightly spooky theme which was still very fun; but bit on the scary side because the games are so immersive — maybe check with the hosts if your tolerance for creepy themes are low.

Overall, best escape room I’ve done in Sydney. Thanks Cipher Room crew:)
