The Book Station reviews
16I used to work here as a waitress. The manager wasn’t very kind to me and I was in tears after every shift. I was just trying my best.
I love my visits to ‘The Book Station’ - the best ever ‘salad sandwich’ & great coffee. Thank you to the friendly staff.
So much choice, very helpful and friendly staff, the cafe smelt enticingly mouthwatering, a pity I'd just eaten, for a visitor to Sydney I felt welcomed.
This is another jewel in the Shire, good service tea coffee food lots of second hand books well priced, a very comfortable atmosphere to have a break in.
My boyfriend and I used to come here almost every day and play chess and get coffees. I miss this place: (Staff were very sweet
Staff are great & friendly. Very casual, love the home made muffins. Although would appreciate my coffee to be a lot hotter.
This little coffee shop you would find in the trendy inner west.but Thankfully it's in the Shire. Caringbah.wonderful cosy old school feeling, charming friendly staff and a delight to wonder the shelves.remembering Books.fabulous if you want a change from Stainless steel, White walls, modern glass etc.try warmth, wood and chesterfield sofa.worth a coffee.
I went there with my friend for a coffee as I like the place I lift my sunglasses on the counter for moments while I paid and we were the only customers in the shop, I went back to the counter to get my glasses the staff was so rude and denied know any thing about my glasses, I asked the manager to review security cameras she was extremely rude and said we don't have cameras if they were lying about the cameras I knew that they stolen my sunglasses, never going back there again
Very relaxing atmosphere lovely lounge music books ok prefer free newspapers.not fan of ligament lights but lovely dim cosy feel. NO AIRCONDITION so won't visit in high summer homemade soups a wi nner. Dogs invited to sunny courtyard bit quiet too small.coffee good but too much choc sprinkles
Amazing place! So many books to see and to read. Unique atmosphere, ideal for a book lovers. Coffee and treats were very nice.
The food here is lovely, and the coffee consistently great. I’ve been to many bookstore cafes and given the balance between quality service, and a nice book collection, The Book Station earnestly deserves the ‘cafe bookstore’ designation in my view!
Worst service in the shire! If you aren’t a people person don’t work in customer service. To have to wait 10 minutes plus for a take away coffee while the staff talk behind the counter, to only then be handed a Luke warm coffee along with a side of attitude, is not what people want first thing in the morning. Won’t hurt you to crack a smile and be thankful that people are choosing to spend their money at your cafe during a pandemic. Thanks for nothing-literally, you took too long to make a coffee.
Favourite spot in the shire! Great coffee, beautiful atmosphere, awesome selection of books and lovely staff!: D
By far the best cafe and coffee shop in Caringbah! I always stop in when in the area. This is a family owned and operated business, and they have the freshest sandwiches and most delicious homemade soup. Also, the barista with the short blonde hair is a darling.
My favorite coffee in the shire!
The food is nice- try the banana bread!
The quiche is nice too but unfortunately the side salad is nothing to get excited about and not worth the extra cost.
Staff are very friendly which is why I keep going back.
Nice back courtyard and play equipment for little kids.
I am not sure what ‘friendly’ staff people are talking about in the above posts but the last three times I have been there it is always the same rude and pretentious woman that I deal with.
It’s not just the fact that she refuses ANY of the books I have dragged in over the years for being “too old”, “hardcover” and not “latest release”, it’s the fact that her service is cold and unfriendly. Rather than at least being grateful / thankful at someone having lugged in second hand books which correct me if I am wrong is the aim of the game at her SECOND HAND bookshop she is thoroughly unwelcoming and dismissive of anyone bringing in books that will not make a profit.
I get that she is totally overrun by books and needs to be discerning about what she chooses but a simple “thank you for bringing those in” goes a long way in encouraging a return customer.
Oh and lastly, I’ve been there for a bite to eat as well. Had the coffee. It was bitter and service was - surprise, surprise, unfriendly!
