The Bank Bazaar

I have been here many times now and the food is consistently fabulous. A few good choices for vegetarian. Staff are very polite and attentive and sitting out the back under the trees with the water feature going is the perfect place to catch up over a meal. Prices are reasonable and well worth every penny.

On arrival I sat next to a table of sweet elderly women, after waiting over an hour for food on a quiet day, I’m convinced the women were teens when they ordered their food. Slowest service I’ve ever experienced. Food was lovely but staff have no sense of urgency. Such a shame.

I have been coming to the Bank Bazaar since it opened many years ago. It was a unique oasis in an elegant building in the heart of Richmond with a beautiful outdoor garden setting and lovely antiques. Since the original owners sold the business in has deteriorated. The wait for food - even on a slow day - was ridiculous. The garden setting has been destroyed with outdoor tents which I hope are not permanent. It was untidy with brooms, ladders, tarps and service areas visible to public. It is the small details that made this place aesthetically pleasing and special and they have now gone. You cannot run a business on the cheap - you need to employ staff, have a menu on offer that you can service quickly so there are not long delays and keep the spirit of the place the same. It is a heritage building - locals want the shade of the tree, to see the tree not canvas tent roofing and have the gardens tended and fountains running. Keep the original staff - they have the relationships with locals. I wish I knew it was for sale I would love to run it.

The place is beautiful but please DO NOT come here hungry. The food was good but the wait and the disorganization of missed orders beforehand was just unbearable though.
Also, they forgot to bring the cutlery.
We ordered egg beacon croissants but came only beacon croissants, then took it back and took another hour to put the egg.
The coffee came 10 minutes after the food.
Then we have to wait for another half an hour for the cinnamon roll.

Delightful oasis in the middle of Richmond. Staff couldn't be more friendly and food is good too!

We had a gettogether with old colleagues and were well looked after. Food was great and good GF options.

Ok friendly service, forgot to charge for seniors special even though I had my seniors card out, in my hand, and their was two other seniors in my group, they didn't give the special advertised. So you have to ask.

What a gem of a place. Built in 1880 and still kept the decor. Inside and outside tables. It's worth a try.

Lovely place for breakfast. Service was very slow this time around taking almost an hour for the food to come out after we ordered. We haven't had that issue in the past so accept that there might have been issues in the kitchen. Food was great though

Lovely outside area, we really enjoy our mum's day out here on Thursday mornings and the young guy that took our orders he is great at his job and has a great sense of humour with us

I really love this place and it's owner. It has a feeling of tranquility. The staff are great and will help anyway they can and the food is good with great variety.

This is our new favourite weekend cafe. Always nice and chill. I took my friends for high tea yesterday. Everyone was impressed with the food and atmosphere. We had a lovely afternoon and took plenty of pictures!

Had lunch with 6 friends at this delightful outdoor setting today. Heavenly Oak tree to sit beneath, parisienne astmosphere, delicious food, charming staff. Made my Birthday PERFECT. Will be back. Wonderful diversion from so many indoor venues. Thank you

Lovely but not great if you’re gluten intolerant or coeliac. I had visited the cafe when it first opened with a large group & 3 of us were in this category but there was literally nothing gluten free for us so we had to go across the road to buy something to bring back & eat. The owner was very nice about it & said she would add some gluten free meals to the menu so I decided to try them again. Unfortunately when I visited today the gf quiche/frittata wasn’t available so my only choices were a Caesar salad or a toasted sandwich/smashed avocado made with gf bread. I had the smashed avocado which was nice enough but it’s just disappointing that with so many people needing to eat gluten free these days there wasn’t a few more choices. (They do have some gf cakes though)

The courtyard out back is a bit of on oasis in Richmond, always a few degrees cooler on a hot day, such a nice atmosphere. The food is generally pretty good and service is excellent.

Overpriced coffee with soggy cakes, hard rock scones and dry chicken. Not a place i would revisit.

Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining. A spacious shaded courtyard with a gorgeous Jacaranda makes for a wonderful outdoor setting.

The service is pleasant, attentive & friendly. I rate the food highly for both quality & freshness. There’s a selection of beautiful mains that cater for the most discerning or simple palate. Burgers, salads and a variety of food are all on offer with vegetarian options.

The vibe is chilled, informal & family friendly with a touch of class but not stuffy. Non obtrusive live music is offered in the courtyard on Saturdays providing the perfect place for a birthday, celebration or function.

Food & drinks is reasonably priced.

Great coffee and sweets selection! We had the mushrooms on toast and the chicken burger which tasted great and had very generous portion sizes for the price.
The outside area is beautiful, especially because we came when the jacaranda tree was in full bloom! They also have a nice play area for kids.

We visited for dinner one Saturday night when there was live music. Such a treat. Under the gorgeous blooming Jacaranda tree sparkling with fairy lights, delicious food from an extensive menu, friendly staff and Spencer Turnbull gently serenading us throughout. The evening was delightful. <3

Our favourite place to go. The owners have worked so hard to improve the beautiful setting outside. Their service is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble. Always remember us and welcome us back. Food is delicious especially their desserts. Was there today. Never got to thank the owner for having one of their wait staff deliver a treat on the house. Their staff are very obliging. Great to see the young ones get the opportunity to work in such a caring environment. Well done. Will always recommend for anyone wanting a quaint coffee catchup or meal. Live entertainment is great on the weekend. Thank you.
