The Balcony Restaurant & Bar @ Shelly Beach Surf Club reviews
66Very slow service. Below average, tasteless food. Beautiful ocean view. Fair Price. Great SLSC history. Wouldn't go again
It was lovely weather today, but Munchas still managed to bring us a delicious lunch even though they were flat out - and all with big smiles.
Beautiful location and lovely staff. We had the seafood platter which was mostly great, but mussels still had beards on the shells and some inside and poo shoots in the prawns! Still had a lovely time, just a bit more attention to detail would be a huge benefit
Our group of 8 had lunch here a few weeks ago. I had the pesto chicken and it was delicious. The hot seafood plate was also very tasty, not greasy.
Enjoy going every weekend with our furbaby. It's so dog friendly with water bowls supplied. Whale watching is great at the moment. Cafe has the best coffee & meals. Highly recommended.
Found this great eatery restaurant today. Friends visiting from Sydney and wanted to take them somewhere with water views and it delivered and the food fantastic. Will be back very soon.
Really Good food, really nice view, a bit slow on serving time but the food was totally worth it. The portion of each dish was generous, it would take 4 people to finish the 3 dishes. Highly recommended!
They’ve restaurant up stairs has stepped their game up as of late. They’re done some minor new renovations and change the furniture which is now more comfortable. The food is also much better quality.
Tried the seafood platter for one advertised on the specials board $29 very disappointing. Surprised to find a seafood stick amongst it. Batter slipped of the seafood (obviously frozen) and staff were unfriendly and unwilling to change menu to accommodate different sauce request with meal for another dish.
$18 for this pictured calamari - they forgot the aioli, went up to politely ask for it and the brunette at the counter rudely responded with attitude ‘wait wait what calamari? You mean the squid’ … there’s only one calamari ‘squid’ on the menu … customer service below average. Good location, over priced squid.
Although we had booked an outside table for lunch, we were literally shouldered aside by another patron who 'demanded' three outside tables for a wake even though they had booked inside. The staff who were apologetic tried unsuccessfully to counter the woman's demands, so we were moved.
Location great, food very good and reasonably priced and staff were lovely. We had been there for dinner the previous day and enjoyed it so much we went back.
We just had the worst experience at The Balcony, the lady who runs the restaurant got angry at our group of 20 people for standing up at the tables which we booked, she was so rude to us, we will never eat there and we will be telling all our friends about the terrible experience too.
Nice place, clean, 1st time there and I will go again. Had the seafood platter that I was told is wonderful but the balmain bugs on it were so dry they were like rubber so won't eat that again. The place was nice enough for a second chance which I dont normally do. Place just needed a little music and it would be a great Sunday afternoon
Good spot.good coffee.good prices.only bother is sometimes the chips aren't the best and sometimes they are so hit and miss there i think its to do with when the oil has been changed you can definitely tell.
Magic spot to have lunch and look out at the ocean. Food is always delicious and there is a decent amount of things to choose from on the menu. Recommend you call ahead and reserve a table if you are going on the weekend as it gets busy.
Decent pub-style food but quite expensive given it is not table service and still has a local club feel. Still, very nice views from the first floor overlooking the beach and nice to have inside and balcony options. Staff were very friendly. Photo of the menu here on maps was incorrect a -seems like the downstairs cafe.
The team is friendly-ish, the food is not bad but ultimately this is a wonderful location wasted with zero charm. From plastic chairs to a hole-in-wall type bar window there seems to be a determination to keep beauty at bay. Pity because the view and location is beautiful and there is little by way of competition in the area. No craft beer.
What an amazing location overlooking Shelly Beach! The menu caters for everyone and we have dined here several times now. Food is well presented, good quality and there are often innovative specials offered. Definite room for improvement with the selection of desserts (underwhelming in terms of taste) and coffee is average (better and cheaper downstairs from the kiosk). Maybe a new supplier for the desserts?
We got married here and the location, food and staff were all beyond expectations! Highly recommended
A fantastic restaurant! Extremely good value for money. I highly recommend this place for anyone to eat at
