Great place to trade my camera gear and get some new kit, very friendly and helpful staff.

What a joke. Waited in line for 45 minutes to buy a battery while the only two employees showed customers items in locked display cases, oblivious to the line at the register.

Fantastic customer service when in store!

Flip side of this is that they can get busy with in-person customers so it can be difficult to get them on the phone

Great service and best range of camera gear in the CBD. Minh is a fantastic, knowledgable salesperson!

UNRELIABLE - UNPROFESSIONAL - UNACCEPTABLE
Purchased a professional gimbal kit for an important client shoot, paid an extra $19.95 for priority shipping (4-5 business days, as shoot was 8 business days later). Received email confirmation, CC debited immediately. Six business days later, no updates. After being on hold for 20' on the phone today, I was told that my "order hadn't been allocated yet", that the store wasn't picking up the phone, and the only option was a refund. So we lost a whole week, a client / shoot and the associated revenue because of your incompetence. Thanks TED's! We'll make sure we NEVER order from you again when we have an important professional commitment seeing as you're incapable of honouring yours - which simply requires shipping a product or at the very minimum informing your customers of any issues along the way. Six hours after the call - still waiting for email confirming refund.

I attended an event today which was a colossal waste of time. The presenter claimed that he is not there to advertise products and spends the whole workshop shilling Profoto products. Furthermore, lunch was meant to be provided which was clearly stated in the event description. It is utterly misleading and deceptive under s 18 of the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) to include that in the event description and blatantly not even including it in the event.

The workshop is clearly an activity that is 'in trade or commerce' (Chapter 1,2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010) and having the phrase 'Lunch will be provided and included in ticket to this workshop. ' is misleading or likely to mislead (s 18 of the ACL). You can shove the Profoto discount. I do not support shills out of principle and morality.

Attempted to go there 3 times to return a faulty camera I bought from Ted’s which I had owned for 1 week at that point. They refused to exchange my goods, even though under ACCC rights as a consumer I am allowed to pick whether I would like an exchange, refund or repair on a broken item. So I left empty handed.

I tried to call them the next day between the hours of 11am-4pm as per their advice, but the manager Daniel had left at least 20 minutes early on their shift. Terrible service and patronising staff except for Michael. Leo was ok, but just unhelpful. Still have a broken camera, and no way of using it or refunding the product.

I contacted the Sydney store on their number within the business hours and no one picked up the call, what’s the point of having the phone number if you can’t attend to your customers calls? ! I am a serious customer who’s inquiring if you’ve a macro RF lense 100mm F2.8 in stock so that I can come to buy it instead of ordering it online, you could’ve just missed your customer

Came in with a vague idea of what I needed but not sure. The staff who helped me out were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

Are you in the retail business? If so, maybe answer the phone. I have money to spend which will now be going elsewhere after five unanswered calls, absolute waste of time dealing with this unprofessional business!

Most of the staff at the Teds stores are good and friendly, in all of their stores. However there is one in the Sydney city store with a foreign accent who is particularly nasty and rude. This happened last year but wanted to flag it anyway as the bad experience still lingers in my mind, specially since I love Photography and trying new lenses and gear which might require interactions with camera shops. I went for a lens exchange, was trying to decide between two Fuji lenses, this guy was just arrogant and pushing me to decide immediately, basically plain rude with no patience or assistance whatsoever.his attitude completely changed my view about the store. He actually provided a wrong and much cheaper price details for a lens I chose and I could have walked away paying half less! Later he handed over the transaction to another staff who was friendly, and also discovered his colleague's horrible mistake. Later found out from the other staff that the rude guy had a brain surgery recently and might still be impacted. Just hope he is better now.

Really bad experience, I placed an order online and paid for it when it was available. And then two days later I was told the item was sold out. This is a total bullshit!Never purchase things here any more. What a disappointment!

I came in knowing just about nothing about non-phone photography apart from some cursory googling, but Sarah was very happy to walk me through models that might fit my needs and make suggestions for things I hadn't considered. I never felt like I was wasting anyone's time asking basic questions. (Of course, going when it's not busy helps!)

Fantastic service. Experienced staff. On a recent holiday accidentally cracked the lens on my camera. Was able to purchase a second hand lens at Ted's and now my camera is like new again

I had my first academy session with Charlie to learn more about lighting. I left feeling confident, motivated and excited. The gear and techniques he suggested were exactly what was required for my work. Charlie had a thorough list of topics to cover and made sure we discussed what I was interested in. I’ll definitely be booking another session to keep improving my skills!

I was looking for a Canon camera for my bday gift, which i wanted it so badly but it is out of stock everywhere. Thanks their staff Leo for helping me getting it. He is very professional and gave me some advices on other cameras etc. I came back for buying some disposable film cam. I will buy camera stuff from here from now, and i will recommend this place to my friends. Thanks a lot!

I bought a Nikon Z5 (a brilliant camera for my needs) and was impressed with all the staff in the store I’d spoken with leading up to the purchase decision; they were patient, helpful and well informed. I bought a second hand lens from Ted’s a few months later, it has been excellent and was about half the cost of the same lens new.
This Teds store is more than a store, there is a very large area beyond the retail space with a gallery space and a training area where several formats of education are offered to customers. When buying the secondhand lens I had a conversation with Charlie about my photography. He suggested a 2 hour customised training workshop would be useful to consolidate my existing skills and add new technical knowledge. The tutorial was delivered by Charlie in the store, and it was absolutely brilliant. Charlie was able to clearly explain complex technical foundations of manual photography. The 2 hour customised training absolutely changed my understanding of my camera and how I understand photography itself. Highly recommended if you want to unlock the potential of your camera and confidently move beyond the limitations of automatic settings.
