Sydney Madang Korean BBQ reviews
45A small pot (baby size) of soft tofu claims to be seafood pot in their manu, which literally charges 18 bucks. And the service was poor (I even did not see their smile when serving customers). 1 star is the lowest rate I have to give, otherwise I would only give half (at least I got some sort of food to fill my tummy). Really disappointing dinning experience.
First time going to a Korean BBQ and honestly so happy I came here. Service was amazing really friendly always had a big smile on their face. Didn't take to long to prepare everything and once we cooked our meat it was so juicy and soft. Definitely will be coming back thank you.
Been to several korean bbq restaurants and usually the sides are meh. But for Madang it isnt. Their soybean soup is also yum!
Didn’t like their pork belly but the marinated beef definitely made up for it. Definitely a must order. We tried the baby octopus but it didnt taste anything (i guess that’s expected)
They’re quick to replace the grill and refill the sides. Will definitely come back when craving korean bbq.
After a train trip up from Shellharbour on the South Coast on a cold winter morning I arrived at Central Station. Familiar with the streets of Sydney CBD I made my way up George Street went right on Liverpool Street and a left onto Pitt Street and happened to spot the Madang sign directing down a laneway. I felt hungry for authentic Traditional hearty and healthy beef bone broth soup. I was a little early but the staff were kind enough to seat me till the kitchen opened. I didn't wait long and food was served to the table along with accompanying side dishes as well as water and the herbal tea I ordered. Im also thankful for the gentleman staff for helping me with my Korean language skills. I enjoyed the meal so much I didn't have time to take pics. I also left my phone on the table when a left. The gentleman promptly and honestly handed it back to me outside.
Pretty good place. Very busy when we got there but staff were very kind and accommodating despite how stressful it must have been to work there. Food was decent but not amazing.
So overall fantastic service. Food was satisfactory but not amazing. But that's ok given the pricing.
Perhaps the best known kbbq in Sydney for good reason. Well ventilated, no smoke haze to be seen. Great meat quality for reasonable prices. The menu is fairly tight with food you will actually order, not crammed with aspirational overpriced mess.
Worth the wait! No matter how big the line, it is always worth the wait! The food is fresh and incredibly tasty, the staff are very nice and service is prompt even when very busy. We had about 6 different meat types, a mix of veggies and sauces and all of it was delicious. It gets hot in there with all the BBQ's, so dress cool in summer!
Bibimbap with raw beef ($19), dumplings $9 and kimchi jigae $17 (pork, tofu, kimchi). Food was okay but portion size for the soup was a bit tiny.
I waited for 1.5 hours and decided to finally leave the restaurant and go somewhere else, after not being able to get a consistant answer from the abrupt and incompetent staff.
The Manager yelling at me when I asked how much longer I need to wait for a table, when seeing a few available tables.
Mixed feelings about this place. The food is really good - one of Sydney’s best kBBQ. Great side dishes, good selection of meat etc. The way kBBQ should be.
The wait staff though are awful. Seriously rude people, especially the chap at the door. Complete lack of interest, communication or any customer service skills. Tables not cleaned - it’s like they don’t want your business. It’s a shame. This place used to be amazing, and really welcoming. Now, there are plenty of other options and I suggest you go there rather than waste your time with these people.
You know a place is going to be good when the menu is only 4 pages long (less than 50 food items), clearly they know what they're good at and just focus on those. First time trying Madang this weekend after bring referred by a friend, will be back! The seafood pancake and the potato noodles here are great!
Eek! Very disappointing lunch experience.
The BBQ didn’t work.
The menu limited.
The octopus was ghastly.
The service was poor.
Extremely slow service! Told wait would be 60 minutes and ended up being 2 hours! Don't visit unless you don't have anything better to do than stand in a dark alley. Staff ignor customers waiting.
Waited 30 mind for nothing. They have available tables but we just waited outside.
Tastes not bad, but too small dishes for the price.
Not recommended.
Its not so spaceous but it will do. When you ask for extra spicy meal, you will not be disappointed and I mean not like in other restaurants, their extra spicy literally means EXTRA SPICY. It will burn your tongue and you will lose your taste for the rest of the day which is the best part.
Good value for the food quality. Their BBQ is still otentic, although not the best. Friendly service and nice atmosphere
The foods is delicious, but the service leaves not really good ️ One of the waiters was arrogant, It's rude to spray ash on the food
I think I will not come again
The food was very good and the servings were big. The BBQ was awesome and the waiters were attentive to customer needs (theres a button you can press to call out) just a bonus that they really have good COVID measures in place. Social distancing is observed inside the restaurant, and they ensure that you scan QR code before you enter! Will definitely be back!
Rude staff! We waited for an hour, we were seeing empty table but staff weren't cleaning them. When we asked, the staff was making us feel unwelcome to the place. We decided to go away afterwards. Not worth it.
P.s. I've dined in here before and tbh the food is not that great. You will find better kbbq in Strathfield.
BBQ is fantastic, although I could use a better service of the waiters. They showed me poker faces and speak to me with impatient tunes. I am not usually picky on the services. It might because of the long time wait which triggered my bottom line. Seafood pancake is not traditional as well, less flavoured. Fried chicken is great. In addition, they had quite a variety of Korean wines, which is hard to see in other Korean BBQ places elsewhere. All-in-all, I might come back again. I will change my rating if I get a better service.
